yes boys and girls of cb, my friends, it's that time of year again for me :) winter is hitting hard and i finally set my resting area at my parents home just like last winter when i discover carnage blender :)
christmas time and new year eve is over (at last) and i now have all the time in the world to burn all my ba :)
2008 tree planting season was from may to late november, now it's carnage blender season beginning for me until i go back out there in the deep northern forest of Quebec. i wrote this thread because i am very happy to be back as a full-time player and live once again the thrill and excitement of the great cb community while i am off-duty.
yeah !

i take it you plant trees? is this reforestation or something else?

SuperHD January 4 2009 1:25 PM EST

yes Dudemus it is reforestation

I am in the forestry industry, i work for Outland reforestation but in Quebec it's called ''La foret de demain'' meaning Tomorrow's forest
I am a professionnal quality checker but they use me as a rover, meaning i also do the tree-runner (the one who deliver the tree) and the foreman (the guy in charge of a team). My nickname at work is: the mission man since i do practically all that can be done on the field. only work i dont touch too much is the paperwork ; thats the job of the supervisor.

Do small children cheer and shout "Rover! Rover!" when you come to town?

Dudemus : how did you get into this work if you don't mind me asking? also, how old are ya?=27

well i started to plant trees at the age of 15, for a very small non-profit organization near where i lived and 6 summer later i got bored of planting trees and i told myself : I will be the one checking, verifying the quality of the planter. So, i went to school in Forest amenagement. It was in a professional establisment, the kind that teach a profession, like secretary, hair cutter, plumber... the class lasted only one year and after i had the title of forestry guard. They told us there were 16 professions related to the forestry we could do from the laboratory to the skidder driver or my choice: tree quality checker.
Well to tell you the truth i did not really needed to have the certificate to be a checker but it helps. Because in the plantation the more you work hard the fastest you will climb the echelon. Although i like my job a lot it is less money making than a tree planter. I got a day rate and the tree planter is getting paid by the production he makes ( how many trees he plant a day multiply by the price of the tree usually around 10 cents each.) a average planter will do between 150$ and 250$ a day but hardcore planter will do more. the only limits is your own endurance and strength and the time of daylight ( although i seen a guy planted with a headlamp !! :)

anyway to have a job of tree planter the time to apply is now !!
it is fairly easy to have this kind of job since its not your CV that will make the difference but how your motivation is showing on the phone and at the interview with the recruiter. there is a ton of company who hire in the united states and in canada. Check the net, tree planter are usually very friendly people.
tree planting also come with about 4 or 5 months of unemployment insurance... except if you travel outside of your country while off-duty and yeah i know some tree planter who are planting around the globe for a never endind planting, meaning they are on party all year long ! oh yeah i forgot to tell you that planting and carnage blender are not activities that one can do together except if you have a satellite internet connection since the job takes place far far away from any civilisation...
