How much of a damage increase per x? (in General)

Kliktu January 14 2009 3:27 AM EST

I have a SoD and I want to know how much each x increases my damage. Is there a way to find out?

AdminTal Destra January 14 2009 4:03 AM EST

if base damage is 5 then each x will multiply damage accordingly say 5 x 10 will be 50

your forgetting about the invisible multiplier Tal. I'm not sure how much more damage you would get for every x, but I'm sure its not linear like you're saying.

basically i think to double the damage you need to increase the x by 4

Sickone January 14 2009 5:37 AM EST

damage = base damage * SQRT [ (ST/20) * Weapon_X ]
...approx.

The square root of what? Of the base damage?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] January 14 2009 6:53 AM EST

woot, i spy another formula for http://www.carnageblender.com/wiki/Various+Formulae

Kliktu January 14 2009 7:48 AM EST

The formula says to Square Root whatever is the product of the formula in the brackets, right? Then multiply that number by the base damage of my SoD (5) to get total damage, right? That number comes out as a little less than half the amount of damage I do to an unarmored minion. Did I do it wrong?

QBJohnnywas January 14 2009 7:49 AM EST

Lol, I followed the formula and got twice my average damage.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] January 14 2009 10:58 AM EST

the way i read it: if str is 200 and weapon x is 10, then you would get 100 in the brackets, the square root of 100 is 10, so you would multiply the base damage number on a weapon by 10 in this case.

what i am not sure of is if the sod would be different since it hits multiple targets. also, does this give your max damage or average damage. i would assume that it would give your max damage and therefore the range before reductions would be 55 to 60 percent of that?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] January 14 2009 11:06 AM EST

55 percent would be the bottom of the range that is.

Unless there's been some revelation in the formula, the "base damage" Sickone refers to is NOT the base damage on the weapon, but rather the damage that weapon would do at x1 with 20 Strength.

If you want to know how much your damage increases with each X on your weapon: Less than the previous one. :)

The answer is simple... NOT ENOUGH!

Underwear of Flaming Excrement [5x2600] (+90) owned by Last Gasp (Jingleheimer Schmidt)

For every million I poor into this thing (another x114 or so) I only see a modest (2% - 3% or so) improvement in damage.

Kliktu January 14 2009 1:24 PM EST

Well thanks for all the help guys, I guess I'll just keep pumping x's into my SoD until I can win more!

Sickone January 14 2009 3:26 PM EST

NOTE : Base damage is damage dealt with a x1 weapon at 20 ST, *not* the number in the weapon info.
