RoBF-based Strategies? (in General)

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 14 2009 9:27 PM EST

I was wondering if anyone had any strat ideas about the RoBF. Not too many are used, so I can't get a good idea what type of strat it would work well with. And I don't have Mikel's NW or sheer MPR so copying his strat would be ineffective for me..

King January 14 2009 11:27 PM EST

most teams that can be made to use a RoBF are probably better off with an EF or IF like the as/as/ga/sg teams

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] January 15 2009 12:05 AM EST

on my single minion after the robf change, equal amounts of hp, amf, evasion & ga seemed to work the best out of all i tried.

TheHatchetman January 15 2009 12:17 AM EST

hide the RoBF holder in the middle of the team and put a hefty wall in back. After that, everything else is optional, so long as you avoid DM

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 15 2009 12:31 AM EST

What's the point of having a wall in the back? Wouldn't it be more useful in the front?

three4thsforsaken January 15 2009 12:35 AM EST

If you want to beat Mikel, Get a heavy wall in front and have a good amount of PL/ HP support. Mikel has a huge hole in his team, and that's against other RoBF teams with high AC, as we saw with shipping to Boston.

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 15 2009 12:38 AM EST

My goal's not to beat Mikel, it's to maybe stop so many people from farming me so much.

Rawr January 15 2009 12:38 AM EST

I wouldn't call it a HUGE hole >.<

Aera Cura January 15 2009 12:44 AM EST

You call 200 losses being farmed?

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 15 2009 1:08 AM EST

Well I'd probably ditch AS and have pure HP and PL on the minion I have AS on now since it's the biggest. I was thinking having 2m ST/2m DX with an exbow and the rest into HP on the RoBF minion. Then that leaves the high AC wall, which would probably train AMF? o.o But then I'd need HP on the wall too... Eh? EH!?

PearsonTritonRaveshaw January 15 2009 1:37 AM EST

Single minion 2/3 HP 1/3 GA wears a ROBF.

Quad minion, 2-3 minions train pure AS, one pure GA, if only two train AS the last trains AMF. Another possibility is 3 minion AS, 1 GA, and one of the minions trains AMF as well. This strategy is probably best suited for the ROS, but the mass amounts of HP would be useful for the ROBF if DM is not involved.

I win. =P

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 15 2009 1:44 AM EST

Guys, I have 3 minions...

three4thsforsaken January 15 2009 2:47 AM EST

I have a hard time understanding your strat. Could you reformat it to something like

minion 1 trains

minion 2 trains

etc...

so it'll be easier to read?

TheHatchetman January 15 2009 2:53 AM EST

minion up front trains... Idk (like i said this one is entirely optional), let's say AMF/GA (does wonders against SG).

Then ya have your RoBF guy in the middle with one of two setups:

1) 100% HP (base AP) with AoI, HoD, CML, MS, TG, and RoBF

2) more enchantments (again, optional) let's say pure AS with AoI, Corn, SB, and RoBF

Then your wall with all wall gear (duh?), training AP (duh again?), and enough SS to max effecton your highest HP minion (alternatively, you may want to make SS the ED on the first minion in the event you decide to take option one with the RoBF dude ^_^

TheHatchetman January 15 2009 2:53 AM EST

)

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 15 2009 2:56 AM EST

Ah. I see. But I think I'd have a very hard time surviving without a massive PL.

three4thsforsaken January 15 2009 3:37 AM EST

How about this

Big minion: +1 million str/1million dex/1million PL
RoBF
MgS
DBs
EGs
AoAC
Exbow

Medium minion: AMF
Corn
SB

Small minion: Decay (some HP)
NS

There is a decent amount of reliance on the Exbow to take care of tanks, pump of DBs if you're in a pinch.

This strat shines against mages, especially those of MM and SG flavor (common in top). With both a MgS and RoBF reduction on your super HP minon you'll have at least 50% reduction on dd spells, not to mention the gigantic AMF that will cut their damage to nothing.

The big decay is an added flavor I like that works great with RoBF damage. With a PL that large, MM isn't a problem so your decay mage is pretty set on survival (except against GA). It should buy you rounds at the very least against big AS teams and allow you to plow through their initial defenses.

Think carefully before you retrain though, we can run some testing. Wouldn't want you to loose any more precious MPR :)

three4thsforsaken January 15 2009 3:38 AM EST

I forgot to write to put the rest into HP on the big minion.

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 15 2009 8:25 AM EST

It sounds solid except it doesn't sound like a good idea to have PL on the main damage dealer, because I'd be pushing it into the grave faster.

three4thsforsaken January 15 2009 11:22 AM EST

There aren't very many spread damage teams, but they're alot of MM teams. it's kinda a tradeoff to keep the decay mage alive.

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 15 2009 11:54 AM EST

Rip off Shipping up to Boston?

three4thsforsaken January 15 2009 1:38 PM EST

not at all, Shipping had a heavy wall on it. The only thing that's similar is that they both are 3 minion teams with an RoBF. Oh yeah, and they both train AMF and HP, somewhere.

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 15 2009 2:46 PM EST

No, I was telling OpVines to rip off Shipping. ;)

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 15 2009 2:52 PM EST

I like your PL Wall Tank/AMF/Decay strategy, btw. ;)

PearsonTritonRaveshaw January 15 2009 2:54 PM EST

Hatch, I think the strategy you posted would do better with an Axbow because you wear DBs. Lower their dex enough and they won't even be able to hit him, especially since he wears DBs.
