http://scan.driverguide.com/scan.php

I'm surprised the one from their website didn't work, but DriverGuide is a good fallback.

if its a dvd/cd/dvdr/cdr drive, you don't have to use drivers. Just make sure your bios sees the drive.
If all fails you need a firmware update. But you really don't want to that.
Rather tricky, if you don't follow the instructions you can throw the drive in the bin.

got the sound card to work, but still have an issue with my cdrom drive

it shows up before windows loads, like insert my xp disc in and it reads and loads that, its shown in the bios load screen, but will not show up after windows loads

any ideas?

so why is windows not seeing it if the computer is

what does device manager show, sometimes drives get disabled in windows and you just have to enable them or uninstall and let windows find it again.

Daz April 4 2009 1:33 PM EDT

It could also be getting assigned the same drive letter as something else. If that happens, it wont show up.

do you have the drive set to master/slave/???

AdminTal Destra April 4 2009 3:31 PM EDT

not showing up in device manager...
thak it was working 5 days ago just fine, i haven't changed anything
its not labeled as a drive at all because its not showing up

I'd say go with Jason Statham...

Based on the Transporter movies and Death Race I think he should be able to handle your driver needs.

Do a system Recovery to 8 days ago and redo any updates you may need. Sometimes it is the updates that cause problems with your hardware. If this doesnt settle the problem then if you have any other optical drives connected disconnect them and see how that works, like Daz said it may be a sequencing problem.
