Shield of Capacity with negative ST (in General)

Colonel Custard [The Knighthood] April 6 2009 7:11 PM EDT

I added an opponent to my list today who is more accurate than I with an ExBow. He dropped my ST below 0, completely removing my ability to hit him with physical damage... or does it?

Presumably, if he had failed to land a blow on me in between these rounds, I would have hit him for 0 damage. One part I found particularly interesting, though, is that I don't hit him back for the full amount displayed on the shield (it looks like about 2/3). I'm not sure what to make of it.

Another thing that I found interesting in this case is that my UC minion ends up dealing less total damage in battles against this character where my ExBow hits him more often -- if I hit him twice in ranged instead of once, his damage is lower, and my response damage is therefore also lower. So, in cases like this, I'm reducing my own damage with the weapon that's supposed to reduce my opponent's damage. It's kinda a self-defeating situation, except that I still win. Cool.

I have equipped a SoC in the past on a minion with 20 str and a base mace.

There were rounds I did over 1M damage in reflection due to the stored capacity of the shield.
