Get paid to tell me what to do :} (in General)

Okay so I am wanting a new strat, something simple (and I really mean SIMPLE too!) yet effective. I can't really afford to hire new minions, and I only have one. Right now I have an archer, single minion trained as follows:
30% HP
35% STR
20% dex
1.0 Arch (10%)
5% DM
Post some ideas how to change things up, and I will actually PAY you to tell me what to do, as the subject reads :}
Pump more hp and dex, and equip a hal :).
You should pay me for getting my hopes up, little girl. xD
/me winks

Unless you plan on boosting your elb over time as you grow, you may find your not doing enough damage to keep up.
I would certainly go to a HF strat since with the AoJ you can keep archery.
If you cannot boost your elb, use the HF for your main damage and your minion for more mop up type duty.
You can wear the same equipment except for the AoJ and do quite well.

Okay I guess I forgot to post as well that I am super non-money having. Cash: $405,912
So that is why I want it simple so I don't have to spend uber amounts on upgrades and such. I mean yes, fighting is great to get money, but if where you are, you can only get 65% challenge on an NCB, there is obviously something wrong with that.

April 30 2009 12:59 PM EDT
Do you need that much strength in relation to HP for an archer?
BadFish
April 30 2009 1:00 PM EDT
eh, I have a fightlist ranging from 85% to 60%. Unless you're pretty dedicated, getting 100% challenge bonus all the time is hard, with any strat. All the LOOKING, the INSPECTING, the FIGHTING, the LOSING.... its too much. And dedication is for dumdums. Go with the HF strat.
My suggestion would be sticking with what you've got and looking for an ELB insta on a payment plan.
Mesoshort
April 30 2009 1:08 PM EDT
Okay well, I currently can make 500K a week and need about a 30M upgrade on the ELB.... I mean I've been around a while but I don't know anyone that would be willing to do such a thing.
You'd be shocked, if you look at the top 50 elbs I'm sure you could find someone willing to loan you a bow until you pay it off.

April 30 2009 1:10 PM EDT
Okay, where can I see that information at? C'mon. It's me you are talking to here.

for instance... Tamerlane/CC/leaden claw has an elb on a retired char...
And I'm pretty sure GM quit.

I don't see either of those characters listed on the page... -twiddles the blonde hair- @,@
An Elven Long Bow [6x7400] (+80) owned by GM (GaNjAMaTiC)
I think that bow was on a tourney char, Nov. ;)
rats... you're right
NS has one, GB has one...
Mesoshort
April 30 2009 1:29 PM EDT
So was GM's ... ?
Oh, crap, GM's was too. :(
I know for sure that NL doesn't play anymore, maybe you could email him or something? ;)
try emailing Jersey... it's been more than a month since it logged on

An Elven Long Bow owned by Anicent (Oniox)
That is the one that I found that isn't attatched to a character. And is so tiny and hasn't logged on in quite some time.
Jayuu does answer email, and occasionally logs in. The problem with the more idle folks is that they're unlikely to take a CB payment plan. You'd have to find someone willing to buy the item for $US and sell it to you on a pp.
I emailed Jersey to see about buying the bow with $US... if I get a response I'll let you know.

You do not have to stick with an ELB.
You can use a SoD.
I would not recommend the MsB as your only attack. With a HF, certainly.

April 30 2009 1:44 PM EDT
-_- What is MsB?

Okay so ... we have upgrade ELB and get an HF. Possibly train less str... someone had mentioned that but didn't really elaborate on it. I know next to nothing about CB strategies... they tend to make my brain hurt.
Well meso, whats the point of good strength if you dont have the dex too hit? Kinda pointless i'd say. :).
Mesoshort
April 30 2009 1:54 PM EDT
Apparantly that is what the ToA is for. Or is that for strength. Either way, the raw levels are about the same on my train page. >_> If that even means anything. I'm telling you guys, I have such a messed up character right now.
I realize this isn't going to go over well... but the Hal is looking like serious nerf bait at this point.

Why is the HF nerfbait?
I see no overpoweredness about it.
Nothing more than a huge DD familiar. In fact, in the top ranks, there are only 2 HF users. There are more SF, RBF and RoS users.
Certainly it is not as bad as the BoE now.
Mesoshort
April 30 2009 2:28 PM EDT
No! Bad Ranger! Take that talk out of my thread >:[
going robf or mage/dd familiar would make it much easier on training ratios as well as not having to choose upgrading gear versus weapons. is that what you were looking for?
Mesoshort
April 30 2009 2:32 PM EDT
Yes dudemus, mayhaps keep the HF, but change archery to a DD strat?
QBRanger
April 30 2009 2:32 PM EDT
I was replying to someone else stating the HF is nerfbait.
I disagree and would not let that statement sway you from using a HF if you so choose.
To throw out statements like that does nothing more than create fear in the community.
If you are going to do so, at least have the courtesy to explaining in this or another thread as to show why you think that way.
so you already have an hf, or toa? what is its level actually?
Mesoshort
April 30 2009 2:34 PM EDT
A Tattoo of Augmentation lvl 1,331,616
Which from what I understand can be converted directly to an HF anyways.
what are your plans for ncb runs? just this one? multiple ones to gear up or grow tattoo?
So as far as I can see, your only real problem was a completely undersized bow... How long till you can do some testing with the new rented bow?
Mesoshort
April 30 2009 2:40 PM EDT
I have no long term plans right now, this is my first NCB... after this I don't know.
Mesoshort
April 30 2009 2:41 PM EDT
Testing wah? Oh right. I guess I can check things out. You're not going to get uber results I'll just be able to tell you if it was better or not. -_-
Mesoshort
April 30 2009 2:43 PM EDT
Okay, question. I have it set to where it sorts by power, should I be in my same range or higher? Because those in my range are too low, and those higher are erm... too high. @,@ Its crazy.
i feel that it helps to have a focus for an ncb run. if you want highest mpr then you will put all money into buying ba, you would also do that for tat growth as well.
you can use ncb runs to gear up though, just don't buy any ba and put all the money into gear.
it is useful to make multiple runs for different purposes finishing with on that goes for highest mpr.
you might use different strats for each type of run, so i was just wondering what the focus of this run was. you will likely not end up with that high of an mpr so focusing at this point solely on gear would be a good idea if you are going to do other runs in the future.
Were I you, I'd be fighting by score and looking for single minion teams. Easiest way is to go to the Character standings link on the home page and go to the high score for single minions.
Mesoshort
April 30 2009 2:55 PM EDT
Well I did that, and same issue, it was either low Challenge Bonus or I get beat. Arg, and it was only by about 30K health alot of the times. So train HP should help...
QBRanger
April 30 2009 2:57 PM EDT
What I do is look at those that lose to me.
Whether by defensive or offensive wins.
See who they beat and try those characters.
All in all, it is a crapshoot unless you really take time to examine a lot of characters and try to figure out odds of winning/losing.

April 30 2009 2:58 PM EDT

April 30 2009 3:11 PM EDT
I haven't even hit 1Mill MPR yet....
QBRanger
April 30 2009 3:20 PM EDT
MPR does not matter, it is all PR.
At 1.5M PR, you need to defeat characters with 3M score.
With your current ELB, that is very hard, if not impossible to do.
Mesoshort
April 30 2009 3:22 PM EDT
I rented this: Maple Bow [6x1600] (+150)
And no, not much change though the NW is about 54M
And I meant my PR isn't at 1mill its at 750K
Mesoshort
April 30 2009 3:23 PM EDT
I hate this game sometimes -_-
My PR is 1.5 M you are right. (zuh) My MPR is at 750K
whats your encumberance at, you big enough to use that effectively?
Mesoshort
April 30 2009 3:26 PM EDT

Goodfish
April 30 2009 3:31 PM EDT
It may be worth it to NOT use a ToA right now and avoid the massive PR hike, so you can fight lower MPR characters with high score ratings and get larger Challenge Bonuses. This is my general mantra with characters- avoid using a tattoo as long as possible to retain high CB's, then slap on a tattoo to keep up with everyone else.
Frankly, the only reason I'm using a tattoo right now is to level it. It isn't even level 50k. ;) Once it inflates my PR too much to be worth using, I'll ditch it.
So I would ditch the ToA for now, since it'll drastically decrease your PR, which will mean higher CBs for you, meaning better rewards (generally).
Mesoshort
April 30 2009 3:32 PM EDT
Unequipping my tattoo decreased my PR by 200K >.>
Does that even make much of a difference?
Cube
April 30 2009 3:33 PM EDT
It's the bow, not the tattoo making the big difference. They got you too big a bow.
Goodfish
April 30 2009 3:33 PM EDT
How much PR does your bow add?
Mesoshort
April 30 2009 3:35 PM EDT
The rental adds 400K to what my normal is... And unequipping all bows is a result of PR / MPR : 1,115,076 / 775,505
Cmon guys... too big a bow? do you have any idea how silly that sounds?
I guess if you don't want to look for targets a bow could be too big, but honestly if that's the case running a tank is already a big fat fail.
Cube
April 30 2009 3:48 PM EDT
400k PR means you have to look for targets 800k higher to keep 100% challenge bonus
QBRanger
April 30 2009 3:59 PM EDT
With a TOA, the best strategy is to use a weapon without any + on it.
Let the TOA do all the +.
Therefore no extra PR as only the + gives it now.
