Forum polls? (in General)

Flamey May 17 2009 2:33 AM EDT

1. Admin polls already exist, so we know polls are nice.
2. Shouldn't be too hard to implement.
3. You can see what the community thinks of a certain idea instead of trawling through about 400 posts of discussion.
4. Admins might enjoy being able to see EG: 95% of users voted support the AoJ change.
5. We already have "fun" or less serious polls (Girl or Boy. Eyesight poll)
6. There's always a silly option at the end of the admin polls :)

Poll style! Yes/No. Explanation after your answer.

"2. Shouldn't be too hard to implement."

Admin polls only poll what the admin in question gives a turd about. Community poll options allow the COMMUNITY to weigh in on specific topics, which provides valuable feedback (if nothing else) to the top programmers. I say let polls be public.

Why not ask an admin to make a poll for you?

Hakai had asked me to make a poll about male / female players
dudemus I believe asked to make the current poll

Why the fuss? Just ask me and give me the details about the poll.

i have asked for many polls to be made over the years and as long as i sent the request to an active admin, they were always created with little fuss and in a timely manner.

Well I meant in regards to a certain change. I wouldn't think the admin would want to put a poll up to say "Did you like the recent change?"

Have you asked? And has this lack of a "feature" ever stopped people from announcing their disapproval?

AdminShade May 18 2009 3:19 AM EDT

Flamey: As long as the questions are reasonable and I don't get 10 requests a day, I don't think I'll mind setting up a poll every now and then, regardless the topic.

Flamey May 18 2009 3:44 AM EDT

I haven't asked myself. I just thought it'd be nice to have. Sure I can ask an admin but with what I'm thinking there'd be a poll in half of the general threads as they all seem to be debating something. Mitt, see #3.

Shade, I'll keep that in mind :) How about a "Should we continue with the QB tradition?". It's always been brought up but never got everyone's attention at any one point that it came up.

If you want a poll, ask an admin. The polling features of this forum software were removed.
