Why (in General)

{cb2}ShadeSlayer May 30 2009 4:01 PM EDT

I know several people who have been here for a long time, and have never had the chance to become an op or admin... why is this?

Me personally i've only been here for 2 years, and haven't really been in big trouble, i know the rules and such... am on everyday... and i participate in chat...

Is that fair, the same people get to be ops and admins and no one else gets to...

I dunno....

/me is prolly gonna get yelled at or banned for this post... but i think everyone should get the same chance to prove themselves.

I'm pretty sure it isn't based on seniority, as I have only played for 5 years and there are some much older CB1/CB2 players who aren't ops/admins, and they do not get in trouble or anything either.

*shrug* I don't see it as an issue of fairness.

(though I do think we need to replace SNK4R's spot if he doesn't return soon, no point in having an admin that hasn't logged in for a year)

I think admins are chosen by Jon, the game's owner. So if you're not in good with him, you're out of luck.

/me apply's for the job...

I just want a change to clean up chat and stuff... to feel useful to the community.

Oh, and this is a bit off topic, but Odd Bird's avatar is the greatest thing I've seen in a while.

Asking to be an op is the surest way not to become one.

Lochnivar May 30 2009 4:07 PM EDT

It won't get you yelled (it shouldn't) and definitely won't get you banned.

Ops can be assigned by the admins, at their discretion, and Admins are solely given out be Jon or NS.

I play on CB (1 & 2) for about 5yrs before I became an OP... so I haven't exactly rushed up the authority ladder :-)

{cb2}ShadeSlayer May 30 2009 4:09 PM EDT

you think i don't know that Ranger... I just think everyone should have the same chance... Not Necessarily me.

Everybody does have the same chance.

It's just that some people blow their chances, while others water theirs every day and watch it grow.

QBRanger May 30 2009 4:12 PM EDT

Why should everyone have the same chance?

Should not the ops be people the admins and Jon trust and respect? And know?

You will not get banned or even yelled at for this post, however, it is quite amusing.

"but i think everyone should get the same chance to prove themselves. "

To be honest, this is the only way i think we could devalue our system of unwritten rules any more than we already heave by leaving everything entirely up to interpretation.

{cb2}ShadeSlayer May 30 2009 4:15 PM EDT

Just wanted some opinions as to why :)

Thanks

"/me is prolly gonna get yelled at or banned for this post..."

Can't yell through text, and you won't get banned unless you're breaking a rule that a simple fine won't be enough of a punishment for.

Please, if you have an opinion or observation, don't hesitate to post it. Seeing as you haven't been hit with the community blacklist you're still allowed to think/wonder.

Just remember that if you apply for a position of hate, that you are going to be hated for it, I personally don't hate the ops, but when some of them fail to do their job it doesn't feel right.

YOU'RE WRONG HATCH! (Look I yelled, proved you wrong, lol.)
