regen: not just for HP anymore (in General)
I'd like to see an item that regenerates stats drained by specialty bows and EC.
Then we could have additional drain items (the skill drain bow I wanted, the DD drain bow some folks pray nightly for) and still have a game worth playing.

sounds cool

A regeneration item that regenerates strength will make EC basically useless.
While it is a decent idea, why not just fix what is obviously broken, the exbow and move on from there.
Why make things more complicated?
Because the specialty bows have a purpose... at least in the mind of the devs
Making someone chose to give up another bonus (TSA, ToA, or whatever) to have a regenerating str stat is a choice.

By making EC useless I will use the example of x3.33k exbows draining nearly 100% of someone's strength.
EC can never get that high vs 6M+ strength tanks.
So EC, doing 2M drain gets regenerated in 1-2 rounds basically becoming a useless spell. Since to counter the x3.33k exbow on the 40k strength enchanter draining 6M+ strength the regeneration item will have to regenerate a lot, I mean a whole lot, of strength to be a counter.
Why not just fix the stupid exbow and let us move on to something that makes gameplay nice, such as a new item or spell or skill?

Not to debate the point about speciality bows, but why should an item at x3.333k completely make a minion useless in 1 hit, while my x17.5k ELB does not kill quite a lot of minions in 1 round. Only 4+ times the x.
And if we get a regeneration item, that will be the end of Ethereal Chains.
Unless you make EC immune to a regeneration item, which I would strongly advise.

As Ranger said, it would be a huge counter to EC. I agree, if this change were to take place, to make EC immune to stat regen.

sheesh ranger your harping on how it's unfair that someones exbow beats you gets old. Tell that to a single minion exbow tank that gets dummied by a MM mage WAY beneath him...how many exbow tanks are beating you right now I would love to know.
I like the idea of a regeneration item. It should not eliminate the drain that the exbow does as some have suggested as there is currently no single piece of armor that can have that massive effect against a weapon. Especially with the prevelence of USD boosted tanks these days.
Nov throw out some data on what you believe would be a fair regen. And it should by no means be as much regen as the exbows drain.

And then we can have an item or enchantment that debilitates the new regen items! And, and...and then an item that foils the items just mentioned! Then, an item that actually thinks three meta-levels ahead by GOING FORWARD IN TIME to the end of the battle!
All kidding aside, how many iterations back and forth should augments, de-augments, and re-augments go?
I feel some of it _already_ goes too far, like PL/TSA. And we're going to add even more levels of back and forth? We already have edge effects due to the "simultaneous attack" methodology of CB's battle dynamics (like minions coming back to life, or hiding in death) that adding even more layers of up and down is going to become impossible to analyze/troubleshoot, don't you think?
That's like complaining that a single decay mage isn't very effective. The exbow was never designed to be a single minion weapon.
If I was loosing battles and people off my fight list due to a broken item, I would be pretty vocal about it as well.
An analogy.
You're in 8th grade and this group of kids always takes your lunch money and anything else that you have for fear of them beating you into oblivion. You 'run' and tell your teachers about it. Nothing happens. Day after day, these kids continue to take your money, throwing you around, embarrassing you, day after day you tell the 'proper authorities'. Nothing happens. Eventually your peers call you a whiner, your teachers continue to ignore you, and still you continue to be thrown around and robbed, undaunted you continue to "whine".
One day you decide you've had enough, you're not going to be bullied anymore. You find your dad's 9mm hand cannon and decide you're going to stick up for yourself the only way you can. These jerks have numbers but you've got enough rounds for all of them. You sit at the end of your bed, crying. You don't see any other way. Slowly, as if rising with the sun your blood begins to boil, sadness being replaced with anger. Daybreak. Today is the day. No longer will you sit idly by and be pushed around, only to be called a whiner... You will make them listen... Surely...
Now I'm not saying Ranger is going to show up at Jon or NS's door with a gun, but jeez, I would be just as vocal if I was in his position, who wouldn't be?

Jir.
I am not that suicidal about CB :)
However, as others stated the exbow is clearing broken. Especially when LA can put one on his 50k str enchanter and nerf all my strength in 1 hit.
The idea as novice proposed seems nice, but I would rather get things fixed rather than add a patch.
The only people I see who like the exbow as it is are current exbow users. Which should say volumes.
If, and it is a big IF, this gets enacted, Ethereal Chains needs to be excluded as it is a weaker spell already. If regeneration works on EC, might as well just get rid of it entirely.
Once you add things like DD draining weapons, chaos then just ensues. We have forced basically everyone to use evasion and/or DBs and taken away a lot of custom ability.

In reality there is one person who beats me now due to that broken item.
I think without it we would have close to a 50/50 split on wins.
Others may beat me if they use this abusive item on a secondary minion. Quite a few may if I do not use my DBs. And perhaps even while using them.
It has gotten quite comical actually how long an item can stay abusive in a game where everyone wants fairness. Sort of like how evasion used to be.
So, if it gets fixed this month, excellent. If not, I will just laugh and cry some more.
But upon more thinking, we do not need patches for things that are quite broke. Just fix what is broken and move on.
