I was on CB this morning when I went outside to help my Dad real quick. When I had came back my computer had shut off. I took my computer downstairs and turned it on. After loading the Toshiba I get a black screen that says "Windows Failed To Start. A Recent Hardware Or Software Change Might Be The Cause." This is great, except I didn't change anything. I tried starting up in Safe Mode and from last safe point, both failed. Anyone know what's wrong, or any ways to fix it?
Sounds like maybe a wire is loose. If it's a tower and not a laptop and you move it somewhat frequently, or even if you accidentally bumped into it the wrong way, a card or a wire may have been displaced and isn't properly secured anymore. It used to happen to me sometimes when I had to move my tower around.
toshibas are usually laptops. is it windows vista? if so does it give you the option to try to repair?
Problem fixed. Thanks novice, henk, fex and all others.
An HDD problem. I just ran my recovery disks and it fixed the problem.

You may want to check the Hard Drive as a sector may be bad.
I had that happen to one of my computers and after a couple restores, it failed to do anything. And I lose my data.
In any event, best to backup your data on that computer now while it is working and not take any chances.
