Strat advice? (in General)

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] August 11 2009 11:24 AM EDT

I am aware that most of my current equipment is atrocious. (VB, GoM, MenC...) But it fits the image I have of my character, so it stays :P

Now, what I want to optimize has more to do with training. I'm pretty sure some of my trained Exp is redundant, and could be better focused to make my strategy less atrocious and more mediocre. I intend on staying a single minion.

Apart from the visible amounts, I have this trained:

Bloodlust at .75, AMF at 50k and VA at 150k.

Any ideas what I could tweak to stand 0.1% of a chance near my MPR? Untraining is absolutely an option, as I don't care at all about my total amount of EXP.

A single tank with no ranged weapon is going to be tough. I say you need to focus more on HP to survive until melee. Are you opposed to taking on a tattoo?

QBRanger August 11 2009 11:30 AM EDT

Basically your bringing a butter knife to a gun fight.

Little AMF, no missile damage and single minion.

Truthfully, you have little hope of getting any challenge bonus in a bit, as mages will defeat you easily, tanks with missile will beat you easily.

QBRanger August 11 2009 11:31 AM EDT

Perhaps a ToE will help you vs higher MPR tanks.

Other than that, Abandon All Hope.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] August 11 2009 11:33 AM EDT

I've already abandoned all hope :)

I'm aiming for "1% CB instead of -50% CB"
And nope, no tattoos. Equips are to stay the way they are, until I max my ENC.

Maybe unlearning the AMF would help. :)

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] August 11 2009 11:38 AM EDT

Putting the resulting EXP into HP?

Demigod August 11 2009 12:06 PM EDT

You'll definitely need HP to hope to last until melee. And not even a teeny tiny ToA? It's a "passive" tattoo, so it's not attacking for you.

QBJohnnywas August 11 2009 12:08 PM EDT

Running a single tank without a ranged attack is tricky to say the least. I would replace the EH with a TSA, and then boost your HP.

QBRanger August 11 2009 12:13 PM EDT

With no tattoos and no changeable equipment, there is essentially no way you can compete with all the tanks using quality equipment and mages using NSC.

There is a time and place to be stubborn, however building a CB character is not one of them.

You will be getting -% challenge bonuses until you see the light and upgrade your stuff or use a tattoo.

Sorry to be blunt, but unless your willing to adapt, there is nothing really more that can be done.

Perhaps maxing your AMF would help, but the NSC out there will make AMF backlash hard to kill your opponent.

QBRanger August 11 2009 12:14 PM EDT

It is sort of saying you want to compete using a long sword and long bow since it is your characters style.

Sorry to say that is not possible in CB.

As is competing with low end equipment and no tattoo.

Upgrade or die.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] August 11 2009 12:55 PM EDT

"Sorry to be blunt" No need to be sorry. You're helping by posting here, and it's my own fault if I make it hard on my team :)

This being said, let's say I'd trade for a TSA...would a SoD benefit my team? What kind of ranged weapond would work best in the case of a single minion like mine?

Demigod August 11 2009 1:01 PM EDT

::cough:: Look at Zenai.

But you'd have to sacrifice a lot of they style you want.

QBRanger August 11 2009 1:08 PM EDT

A single minion tank is best using a missile weapon.

I do like the SoD a lot as bows force you to train archery which is a lot of xp wasted just to use the weapon properly. Something no other weapon needs.

Without a tattoo, the TSA is by far best.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] August 11 2009 4:30 PM EDT

Oh well, maybe I'll go SoD. Definitely a TSA, when I get the cash.

I'll work the SoD into my theme with a naming I guess :)

Thanks for your time guys.

Brakke Bres [Ow man] August 11 2009 4:31 PM EDT

Just add a minion add a touch of GA, add a RoS tada mage problems are over.

Almaisky August 11 2009 6:25 PM EDT

Just wondering - why did you untrain the AMF?

Decay will rip through your single minion.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] August 11 2009 6:53 PM EDT

I think I'll just have to focus on teams training something else. My AMF was very small anyway, I put the EXP in HP instead, to survive ranged magic.
