ToE or Adam? (in General)

cube.the August 18 2009 6:16 PM EDT

So I'm running the ETM strategy from the Wiki and it says to build a Tank with a ToE up to 100k MPR. I'm on my way to 100k, but I am wondering if it would be better to use an Adam for the AC bonus since my ToE is already at 214,854 or if the DX I save with the tat is worth the loss of AC.

The tat later goes up on the Enchanter I hire.

In my own experimentation I seem to win about the same amount of battles with both pieces of equipment.

Suggestions anyone?

Wouldn't you later down the line put the ToE on the enchanter? Also, I would recommend the TSA over the Adam, unless you are going all heavy on your tank.

In the OP I do mention that the ToE goes on the Enchanter.

I was thinking going all heavy and later acquiring a BoTH instead of going with the TSA.

TSA TSA TSA

Make sure your tank has a lot of HP. Couple it with an EC and adequate PTH on your weapons for combo that, in my opinion as a long term ToA tank player, tops the ToA. It's all down to its HP regeneration, which is one of the best features of a piece of equipment in the game.

Don't let the TSA limit you though if you don't intend in training a lot of innate HP.

It does require a large amount of HP to be really effective. But giving your tank a decent HP is a good thing, so they're not reliant on AS, meaning they're not vulnerable to DM.

In the last 70 battles I averaged about 10.6 rounds per fight so 9136 HP regen per fight, roughly.

Hmmmm...

Thanks for these suggestions, I'll have to check out the TSA and see if its worth it.

IMO. I just went through the beginning of my first NCB. At about 60,000 MPR I started getting stuck - (I had 2 minions). I hired my other minions and had better luck at advancing and within about 3 days was past 100k MPR anyway. So, depending on your fight list, and how that is going, I think it may be a good idea to hire minions while they are a little cheaper. (( I am using an Elven hauberk on my small wall and a ToE with a BoE on my light Tank. I also have a Mage and an Enchanter. It seems to be working pretty well, esp. against fireball teams. But I would like to try a TSA to see how that does instead. ))

This time the TSA saved me after I was dead and so he had to hit my Wall again.. (so cool - saved me Tank from getting hit)
(note the Exclamation of "Die Punk" is stated twice. he he he . )

Wat Tyler stumbled swinging at Naruto
Ulrich's blow was dodged by Naruto
Chauser Rhetoric Dragon's Magic Missile hit Naruto [9387]
Naruto decapitated Wat Tyler [5211]
Naruto cries "Die punk!!"
Wat Tyler regenerated 912 HP

Wat Tyler mistimed his attack at Naruto
Ulrich stumbled swinging at Naruto
Chauser Rhetoric Dragon's Magic Missile hit Naruto [13917]
Naruto decapitated Wat Tyler [5408]
Naruto dislimbed Wat Tyler [5488]

Wat Tyler regenerated 912 HP

I like the TSA better because the Elven Hauberk loses it's magic resistance whereas the TSA keeps on giving. Both seem to help about the same during ranged though, - either the EH more AC or TSA regeneration power are about equal protection at similar NW.

Raptor,

You were right, adding another minion earlier to keep the cost down was the right thing to do at this point. My fight list increased even more than it did with the TSA. Thanks for the suggestion.

Ya! - glad it helped. Not sure if in the long run it is the best move..since a lot of top players do it differently (like stay single minion till they are way up there... so you may ask some of them why??

People generally stay one minion for 2 reasons. Exp Concentration and better hiring.
The experience on a hired minion is dependent on the experience on your most powerful minion. So late game while it costs a lot more you get a lot of extra exp from it.
Exp concentration means that they can make a single minion more powerful faster rather than having to share their exp amongst 4 minions.

A bit off topic but you should start a NCB. That would allow you to pass your current character's MPR in a few days.
