Equipped a SoC with a hammer class wep so why doesn't the 2ndary effect work? Is it cause I'm also using a spell? if so that stinks...wasted 1.6 mil.

Shouldn't this be applied to the BoM when Archers just equip the shield and are not really using it?
Think of it this way, archers can wear the shield on their back and still have the enchantment aura over them. You get the same "aura" but the only way to deliver that damage is if you hit them with your hammer. No hit, no extra damage.
You still get the damage reduction from the shield too though.

You do get the damage reduction but you need to have to actually do damage with the Hammer Class Weapon do activate the 2ndary effect.
Casting a spell isn't the same as swinging the hammer ;)
