9, the movie (in Off-topic)

Anyone see it yet.

I trust the reviews on CB far better than those of people like Siskel and Ebert.

So, is it good? I have a 7 and 4 year old, is it appropriate for them?

I saw it with my GF. She usually dislikes any movie I want to see, but she thought it was interesting. Although that doesn't really tell you anything about it. It was a somewhat decent movie, I would even say entertaining. Hard to say if it was kid friendly or not, the robots that they were fighting would probably seem pretty scary, and they did 'kill' several of the main characters.

I actually heard from various sources that this may not be a kid-friendly movie, even with the PG rating. Supposedly it may give children nightmares and such.

As for myself, I have not seen the movie, but hopefully will by this Monday!

All of my friends who have seen have told me that it was amazing. And the previews I've seen for it have led me to believe them.

I caught the middle of the trailer on TV yesterday. Both me and my gf thought it was a video game advertisement at first until watching the rest of it. If you like Tim Burton, it should be worth it.

If the short film is any indication, then it's incredible.

CombatSquirrel September 18 2009 7:43 PM EDT

I saw the movie, didn't like it.

It will probably scare your kids too.

kevlar September 18 2009 7:52 PM EDT

Ya I just read that the short was Emmy nominated, but this expansion of it is nice to look at but that's about it. It's set in an apocalyptic state of post Paris or something and some say it's creepy.. so depends on how your kids handle that kind of theme. And Burton is the producer, not the director.

Not good for a 7 and a 4 year old.

Adminedyit [Superheros] September 18 2009 7:58 PM EDT

being as that it's by tim burton that says it's not really for children. i can't wait to see it though probably going to see it tomorrow night actually (thank heavens for grandma!) i'll let you know what i thought of it after i see it

A Lesser AR of 15 [Red Permanent Assurance] September 18 2009 9:28 PM EDT

Produced by Tim Burton, not directed.

The character depth was that for children, but the monsters might shake a 7 yr old. There are no scary jump scenes to really scare them. Found this an entertaining movie much like perceived from the trailers. If your kid(s) want to see this movie, give a short forewarn, and watch with an open mind.
Otherwise don't and raise wimpy kids. ;)

I definitely want to see it. I've heard it's a little drawn out since it stems from a short though.
