I can't seem to figure out how it all adds up. I guess I'll ask some specific questions so that I can learn it easier. How much Dex do I need to hit every time in ranged with a staff-sling? Do I need + enchantments? If so, how many? How much Dex and/or + enchantments do I need to hit twice with my sling in Melee rounds?
A staff sling has a CTH of 48 this means you have 48% chance to hit in ranged.
So you need at least +52 PTH to get the full 100 CTH or 1 guaranteed hit each round.
For max dex advantage you need roughly 50-100% more DX then your opponent. Resulting in 50 to 100 CTH.

And if your opponent has Displacement Boots, evasion, or more dexterity than you, that will get calculated against you.
But I advise not spending too much cash into a staff sling and buy a Sling of Death or any of the rare (x)bows.
^Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong.
The base to hit is merely a factor in the equation to calculate CTH from DX. At equal DX, your DX CTH = the weapon's base CTH, and at full DX advantage, around 2-4x, DX CTH = 100% + base CTH. Each + grants an additional 1% chance to hit, while each level of evasion grants 1% minus to hit.

and in melee you'll take an 80% penalty to both your Dex and your PTH, so you'd need roughly 13 times as much dex as your opponents, with roughly 250 CTH to hit doubles each melee round. ~_^

So, when I have equal dex to my opponent my chance to hit is equal to my weapon's CTH?
And when I have more than double his Dex. my total CTH is 100% plus CTH from weapon?
So in this case I get 148% chance to hit in ranged combat, with 48% chance of a double hit?
I also read in the wiki that I can get, at most, 2 hits per round from Dex; I can only get more hits from + enchantments on my weapon. How much more Dex over my opponent do I need to have for me to hit twice every time in ranged?
What is weird is that I get about 2-3 rounds in which I hit twice in melee with my sling in a 20+ round battle. How is that possible with all the penalties from using my sling in melee?

In melee rounds, missile weapons have a huge penalty to hit.
It is 60% for bows, I believe 40% for slings and 80% for crossbows.
I may have the xbow and sling penalty backwards.

I know, so how is it that I can still hit twice in melee? Well, I am targeting opponents with only 20 Dex, lol.

I still need some help on this subject, so anybody with an answer to any of my questions please let me know!
