Retire Active Character? (in General)

Last Gasp October 27 2009 10:43 PM EDT

I seem to be operating under a misunderstanding when it comes to BA regen rates.

I THOUGHT that the only difference between 6/20 and 10/20 was just that... the rate of regeneration. Outside of that, rewards are higher at 6/20 to compensate for the lower regen. Conversely BA was more expensive.

So the question arises. If I start a NCB should I retire my current character? Will I get lower rewards with my NCB if I don't retire?

My reason for NOT retiring is that I will lose BA over night with 10/20 while with 6/20 I can sleep, wake up and still not have fully refilled.

I have no plans to buy BA while NCB as I don't think I'll be making enough money.

I do plan on staying in my Clan... that might impact things as I would get more chances to fight opponents. But, climbing the ranks there's not a pile of clan opponents anyway so I'll be doing a lot of fighting agains non-clan characters.

So... what is it, retire him or keep him active while NCB?

Regen rate matches your lowest regen, rewards apply as if your character was in the regen rate it should be in.

you get rewards for 10/20 but your ba cost will be for 6/20.

you can actually buy ba during xp times twice a week during your ncb just off of fight rewards but not at the 6/20 rate.

even if you are buying no ba though, your regen will be 6/20 throughout the whole run which would mean you lose out on quite a bit natural ba. even with missing some during sleep, you will come out ahead by retiring your character unless you are going to miss so much that you should really just keep fighting your higher guy.

When starting a NCB after retiring your larger character it helps to buy and save up 1600 BA before you start. really gives you a boost to begin and spend it all on an XP bonus time. It gets you out of the basement so to speak of really low rewards to about 100000 score or more the first few hours. You will need some money for that, but not a lot since BA prices are fairly low at the very bottom so you need to make a character just for a few days with no minions - (and everyone else retired) just to buy the BA for your launch. Good Luck.

I had thought regeneration rates were recalculated daily at cache flush based upon your most active character.

There is a penalty built in for doing what you're trying to do. You will lose BA anyway. I attempted to do something similar but started to notice after a while I wasn't getting as much BA as I should have been. If I played every 10 I would get 10, but if I saved up and let them build up I would get 24 instead of 30. And it would continue like that.

Jon confirmed that it happens, partially as a penalty to stop people building up BA at 10/20 and then playing their 6/20 char in order to maximise rewards. (Which is seen as an exploit by the way, at least by Jon). I know you're planning on running it the opposite way, but you will still lose BA regardless. The only way of stopping that is to retire the char.

"I had thought regeneration rates were recalculated daily at cache flush based upon your most active character."

well in reality it does not work that way. ask anyone who has done many tournaments as well, the first refresh usually works fine but if you do not fight after every refresh it reverts back to your highest characters refresh rate.
