Child's Play? (in Off-topic)

Every year, CB has a fundraiser to help support the excellent Child's Play charity. Is there any interest in doing it again this year? (For reference, see this thread.)

I thought about that this month, but by the time I remembered, it was far too late. I think it's just going to be next year.

I'm sure we can get this done by Dec. 25th. (?)

Previously we started this as far back as October. There has to be time to accrue donations, create tables, set aside a Paypal or whatever you intend to use, then make sales, hand out items being sold, manage the tables on the sale, and then once all the USD is in make a lump monetary donation. It's actually a pretty good deal of work, and you're talking about doing this in under a month.

maybe just a charity in the spirit of the holidays. The actual donations might be late, but many of us would enjoy an opportunity to participate in such an event.

I'd be up for that, 3/4, if an appropriate alternate could be found. I just don't think we have time to run a fundraiser for the CP charity.

I'm willing to buy a bunch of the CB at an elevated rate for this. Let me know.

i am just wondering why we have to do it by any certain time, here is some info from their web site:

Q. How long does Childﾒs Play run?
A. Childﾒs Play collects donations year round. However, our annual toy drive only runs from November to the end of December, so our website is updated only during these months. Please be mindful of the shipping dates when youﾒre purchasing items from the wish list. In order to make sure that they get to the kids for the holidays, the hospitals would like to receive everything by December 20th.

Eh, OK, if there's no end date then I guess there's no reason not to do it. I was always under the impression that there was! x_x

if you want to buy toys for the xmas season for specific hospitals, that does only go during a certain time of year. if you are donating you can do it any time though is how i understand it all.

Alright, well, I've still got the Child's Play mule (Charity). If we've got plenty of time to do it in, I'd love to get together a nice, well-organized fundraiser, and I'll do the legwork for it myself. The money just won't reach Child's Play before the end of December, but since there's no deadline, that's OK.
