Canabalt (in Off-topic)

Incredibly challenging little gem I found via RPS. Canabalt is a, err, running game. You automatically move, and there's only one button. Jump. How far can you guys go? So far, my record is 1440m. (Play with the volume up! Oh, and boxes slow you down but do not kill you.)

that is a nice find! we need to submit that for the out of ba page. i made 1155 on my first try, btw! ;)

Neo Japan December 2 2009 10:24 AM EST

1499 second try. darn window I had to jump through......

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 2 2009 10:32 AM EST

New record: 3908m.

Try to hit the boxes, btw. It gets a lot easier if you slow down and you can still make all the jumps.

AdminShade December 2 2009 10:35 AM EST

I thought we already had this game introduced before?

[edit: ahh found]

QBOddBird December 2 2009 11:30 AM EST

1837. The game got going really really fast.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 2 2009 11:31 AM EST

i placed it on the out of ba page, rate it if you please.

Whoops, I never saw that thread. (But it appears as though I still have the highest score out of CB!)

2112. I love this game. It's a work of art.

Awesome soundtrack, too.

Lochnivar December 2 2009 2:14 PM EST

hmmm there seems to be a song needed for the sound track.... if only I could remember it....

Something that would be suitable for a man who ran, he ran so far away (through flocks of seagulls) but in the end he just couldn't get away.

I'm sure something relevant has been written at some point.....

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] December 2 2009 9:46 PM EST

I might as well just admit I didn't get the reference, Loch :P

AdminTal Destra [C and S Forgery Lmtd.] December 2 2009 10:57 PM EST

wow bruno, you are either way behind the times or you've never heard that song because you're french

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] December 2 2009 11:21 PM EST

Enlighten me then. I'm curious now :)

Thanks! This is new to me, not sure if I was missing anything, though ;)

Lochnivar December 3 2009 10:54 AM EST

I don't believe anyone has ever been thanked for a Flock of Seagulls reference or link before.... I'll have to check on that though.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] December 3 2009 11:04 AM EST

It's the intention that counts.
