My brother's PC got infected with some fake antivirus that starts up and scans the computer then tells you there's viruses and you cant open any other programs or task manager. I've ran the computer in safe mode and used Malwarebytes but still cant get ride of it, any help? I really want to open my task manager so I can find the program or at least get the name of it, cause its using a fake name.

Even if it has a fake name, you should be able to Google it, and that'll tell you how to get rid of it.

google gets failure in this situation I've did a msconfig to kill some startup programs. We'll see what happens
I got that kind of problem before. I had to manually find and delete it before I could get the antivirus programs to finish it off.

Yea stupid virus. Kept killing my task manager. Mwuahahaha, but who wins now? I do! Victory! Take that, and that, and this!
Google some of the startup programs then... That should lead you closer to the name of the fake antivirus.

Luckily I know what regular start up programs are called and recognize them so I disabled the one I didn't recognize and voila. Plus I killed some useless ones and some stupid resource killing services.
If it's a fake antivirus, just read the name off the fake window and google removal instructions on an alternate computer.

If you're somewhat techno-literate, you can try HiJackThis and, if you get a message saying that "task manager has been disabled by the administrator," you can also download this:

It didn't do that it just killed any program that I tried to pull up and created a message box about it saying it was infected with a virus. I don't think it really did anything probably just scareware.

teach your brother the basics:
dont open links period given by strangers in chat rooms on online forums even this forum!!, unless the person giving it is known by you in real life, even then, take caution!!
dont open emails from anyone you dont know, no matter how catchy they sound.
dont click on pop ups!!
God Bless you!
Jesus Loves you!
