Salvage Yard(s) and Tat Artist Idea (in General)

How about letting lesser items convert to greater rares. It would actually help give purpose to many of the unused weapons/tats out there.

You could make non-rare ranged weapons salvage into rare ranged weapons, costing 100k per base point along with the new ranged weapon of choice.

Make it so that non-rares (whip/dagger/THF) can move up to lesser rares (ES/kat/Exec) in exchange for 50k and a the lesser rare of choice. Then so that lesser rares could move up to "Big 6" for the weapon of choice and 10k per base point

Finally, make lesser tats inkable to full tats for the new tat + $x (where x = tat level*.1)

Slash spawn rate of tats and "rare" weaponry as well to push more people towards using these items until they can move up. Voila! The feeling of progression, rarer "rares", and best of all, many of these crap items will eventually have some kind of use ^_^

Awesome! ;)

Very Cool Idea Hatch! I would put a Higher Upgrade Curve cost and Lower x & + per Salvageable Type Upgrade. I think this would stop people from trying to game that system and make it more feasible for practical use without the possibility of abuse.

The only way you could "game" this system would be to use something with a good forge efficiency and ink it to something with worse forge efficiency. Since lesser items have worse efficiencies, unless you have your heart set on the largest compound bow in the game, it won't help you much.

Oh, and inking to Elvens, but you could already do that.

Yeah, this sort of 'forge upwards' would give a bit of legitimacy to CBs current upgrade design of better being cheaper.

The basic weapons you start off with can't be abused to forge 'rares' more easily.

But it not only makes lesser items worth something, it also brings back the important feeling of 'moving up the weapon ranks' which Jon wants.

Although, with costs as they are, Tulwars etc will still be useless, if you can but a Kat for less than a Tulwar from the Store. You just start there and continue to move up. ;)
