MoD Question. (in General)

Eliteofdelete [Battle Royale] February 21 2010 12:50 AM EST

The salvage yard does not work with the MoD?

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] February 21 2010 1:00 AM EST

Yes it does?

Eliteofdelete [Battle Royale] February 21 2010 1:02 AM EST

I go to change my MH to an MoD and I dont see it :(. I thought it did in the past but i might have been crazy.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] February 21 2010 1:07 AM EST

Well I have in the past too, so unless this is something that NS recently broke, it should be working.

Demigod February 21 2010 1:26 AM EST

...unless this is something that NS recently broke...

I laughed. He does seem to have a knack for collateral damage. :)

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] February 21 2010 1:28 AM EST

Yeah, I figured this morning was one hell of a Saturday morning, so I didn't put it past him XD.

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] February 21 2010 2:17 AM EST

Does not work with supporter items.

TheHatchetman February 21 2010 2:20 AM EST

Does not work with supporter items.

Used to.

AdminNightStrike February 21 2010 7:43 AM EST

You can go from a supporter item, not to one.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] February 21 2010 8:45 AM EST

Why decrease demand for supporter items?

Demigod February 21 2010 9:58 AM EST

He's not. By letting people switch away from supporter items, he's removing some from the game. Less supply, greater demand.

iBananco [Blue Army] February 21 2010 10:50 AM EST

If you decrease the utility of a base MoD, you decrease demand for the MoD.

Eliteofdelete [Battle Royale] February 21 2010 11:31 AM EST

I am pretty sure it worked with the MoD; it was the whole reason I bought it at the time. Oh wells, guess I will just have to toss it away now.

QBRanger February 21 2010 11:57 AM EST

Of course it worked in the past letting you make a higher level MoD.

This is one example:

A Named Mace of Disruption [75x5821] (+181) worth $115,808,452 owned by AdminNightStrike (The Iconics 3e)

It used to be a vorpal blade, named "A Named Vorpal Blade" IIRC.

QBRanger February 21 2010 11:58 AM EST

And this MoD used to be my old MH IIRC:

Valheru Death Mace [75x10000] (+240) worth $219,136,417 owned by ImmortalAA (The Immortals)

Used to be named Death.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] February 21 2010 12:05 PM EST

I suspect this needs adjusting...

QBRanger February 21 2010 1:00 PM EST

You can go from a supporter item, not to one.

Why the change?

You still need to use a MoD to make a MoD so the net effect of overall MoDs in play is neutral.

Sort of like using the JKF to make a higher level JKF.

Eliteofdelete [Battle Royale] February 21 2010 5:16 PM EST

I guess they don't want anymore huge MoDs floating around >_>.

QBRanger February 21 2010 5:24 PM EST

Let us just see if it was an oversight or this will be permanent.

NS, if you're please can you respond.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] February 22 2010 3:49 AM EST

I hope it's an oversight / small thing accidentally broken with recent changes.

Or we'll get back to the situation where something like the MoD was introduced to give us an option versus PL, but absolutley no one would use it, as everyone already had massive weapons.

miteke [Superheros] February 22 2010 9:15 AM EST

Perhaps he was trying to use a rental item to do the salvage?

Eliteofdelete [Battle Royale] February 22 2010 9:20 AM EST

I have own this MoD for about 6 months. Pretty sure its not a rental ;].

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] February 22 2010 9:52 PM EST

Bump for explanation.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] February 23 2010 6:17 AM EST

Are the MoD and VB salvageable into each other considering that they are both supporter items?

Eliteofdelete [Battle Royale] February 24 2010 1:33 AM EST

Still doesn't explain why ranger was able to turn his MH in a MoD in the past.

AdminNightStrike February 24 2010 9:56 AM EST

I didn't change anything in that area. Maybe Jon did a while ago. I'll look again.

QBJohnnywas February 24 2010 10:02 AM EST

I've definitely been able to change to a MoD from a Morg before now. In fact, I think I've done it twice.

Demigod February 24 2010 10:13 AM EST

JW, I think the idea is that you can change your MoD to a MH, but not the other way around.

Demigod February 24 2010 10:13 AM EST

Ugh. I just learned how to read.

QBRanger February 24 2010 10:56 AM EST

I didn't change anything in that area. Maybe Jon did a while ago. I'll look again.

Thank you.

If you can please let us know what the final word is on being able to convert items to a VB or MoD using a base one, that would be outstanding.

Thanks again for taking an active role in CB!

QBRanger February 24 2010 10:58 AM EST

I personally do believe Jon wanted people to be able to convert high NW weapons to a MoD or VB. Since when the MoD first came out, he was very unsure if it would be a supporter item after all.

But the salvage yard made higher level MoD's available for people to actually use instead of having to BS or forge them all the way up.

For those already with 50M+ weapons, making a new MoD would be not financially feasible.

QBRanger February 25 2010 4:11 PM EST

Bump, hoping NS will give an answer soon.

QBRanger March 6 2010 2:11 PM EST

Bump.

I hope NS can get to this question please.

AdminNightStrike March 7 2010 11:49 AM EST

Sorry, I forgot about it :(

AdminNightStrike March 7 2010 11:54 AM EST

Ok, so it looks like three supporter items used to be specifically allowed for the conversion process:
Jigorokano Familiar
Vorpal Blade
Mace of Disruption

I don't know why these three were specifically pulled out.

QBRanger March 7 2010 11:56 AM EST

So I take it we can in the future use base supporter items to make a higher level supporter item?

Like Elite wanted to do?

AdminNightStrike March 7 2010 12:01 PM EST

I looked back in the code change histories to see what it used to do. Originally, all supporter items were blocked, and then those three were allowed.

Currently, all supporter items are blocked.

Those are the only items in their respective categories, so it seems silly to work the logic in this fashion.

So....

I just set it to simply allow all supporter items :) (since we already filter by item type.. it's not like you can change a HOC into a VB or something)

Please direct all inevitable complaints to someone who's not me :)

QBRanger March 7 2010 12:32 PM EST

Thank you.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] March 7 2010 12:44 PM EST

Awesome, thanks NS.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] March 7 2010 6:44 PM EST

I'll be happy to front those, and explain why it would be bad for introducing new Supporter Weapons/Tatoos.

;)
