MoD Question. (in General)
The salvage yard does not work with the MoD?
I go to change my MH to an MoD and I dont see it :(. I thought it did in the past but i might have been crazy.
Well I have in the past too, so unless this is something that NS recently broke, it should be working.

I laughed. He does seem to have a knack for collateral damage. :)
Yeah, I figured this morning was one hell of a Saturday morning, so I didn't put it past him XD.
Does not work with supporter items.

Does not work with supporter items.
Used to.
You can go from a supporter item, not to one.
Why decrease demand for supporter items?

He's not. By letting people switch away from supporter items, he's removing some from the game. Less supply, greater demand.
If you decrease the utility of a base MoD, you decrease demand for the MoD.
I am pretty sure it worked with the MoD; it was the whole reason I bought it at the time. Oh wells, guess I will just have to toss it away now.

Of course it worked in the past letting you make a higher level MoD.
This is one example:
A Named Mace of Disruption [75x5821] (+181) worth $115,808,452 owned by AdminNightStrike (The Iconics 3e)
It used to be a vorpal blade, named "A Named Vorpal Blade" IIRC.

And this MoD used to be my old MH IIRC:
Valheru Death Mace [75x10000] (+240) worth $219,136,417 owned by ImmortalAA (The Immortals)
Used to be named Death.
I suspect this needs adjusting...

You can go from a supporter item, not to one.
Why the change?
You still need to use a MoD to make a MoD so the net effect of overall MoDs in play is neutral.
Sort of like using the JKF to make a higher level JKF.
I guess they don't want anymore huge MoDs floating around >_>.

Let us just see if it was an oversight or this will be permanent.
NS, if you're please can you respond.
I hope it's an oversight / small thing accidentally broken with recent changes.
Or we'll get back to the situation where something like the MoD was introduced to give us an option versus PL, but absolutley no one would use it, as everyone already had massive weapons.
Perhaps he was trying to use a rental item to do the salvage?
I have own this MoD for about 6 months. Pretty sure its not a rental ;].
Are the MoD and VB salvageable into each other considering that they are both supporter items?
Still doesn't explain why ranger was able to turn his MH in a MoD in the past.
I didn't change anything in that area. Maybe Jon did a while ago. I'll look again.

I've definitely been able to change to a MoD from a Morg before now. In fact, I think I've done it twice.

JW, I think the idea is that you can change your MoD to a MH, but not the other way around.

Thank you.
If you can please let us know what the final word is on being able to convert items to a VB or MoD using a base one, that would be outstanding.
Thanks again for taking an active role in CB!

I personally do believe Jon wanted people to be able to convert high NW weapons to a MoD or VB. Since when the MoD first came out, he was very unsure if it would be a supporter item after all.
But the salvage yard made higher level MoD's available for people to actually use instead of having to BS or forge them all the way up.
For those already with 50M+ weapons, making a new MoD would be not financially feasible.

Bump, hoping NS will give an answer soon.

Bump.
I hope NS can get to this question please.
Sorry, I forgot about it :(
Ok, so it looks like three supporter items used to be specifically allowed for the conversion process:
Jigorokano Familiar
Vorpal Blade
Mace of Disruption
I don't know why these three were specifically pulled out.

So I take it we can in the future use base supporter items to make a higher level supporter item?
Like Elite wanted to do?
I looked back in the code change histories to see what it used to do. Originally, all supporter items were blocked, and then those three were allowed.
Currently, all supporter items are blocked.
Those are the only items in their respective categories, so it seems silly to work the logic in this fashion.
So....
I just set it to simply allow all supporter items :) (since we already filter by item type.. it's not like you can change a HOC into a VB or something)
Please direct all inevitable complaints to someone who's not me :)

Thank you.

I'll be happy to front those, and explain why it would be bad for introducing new Supporter Weapons/Tatoos.
