FF13 (in Off-topic)

For those that are curious about which its better on the 360 or the ps3 heres a bit of info for you ...

on the xbox the game runs at a mere 541p not even 720 while on the ps3 it runs at a full1080p the entire time and anti alising is less on the 360 as well. (what ever that might mean) So imo its best to play it on the ps3 ;)

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] March 11 2010 7:08 AM EST

Well to offset things Game Developers make small deviations or Easter Eggs on different consoles. Are there any that you know of between the two?

The Pope [Serenity In Chaos] March 11 2010 7:54 AM EST

I have it on 360... I still like it... its like watching a movie...

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] March 11 2010 8:09 AM EST

No gameplay changes as far as I know.

This is an awesome game in it's own right, but it doesn't feel like a FF game to me. ;)

Square Enix really need to make a 'traditional' FF game next.

Angel of Death [Hell Blenders] March 11 2010 12:15 PM EST

the fighting in diffrent but you need to get used to it

Lord Bob March 11 2010 12:28 PM EST

I'll get this after I'm finished with God of War 3, which comes out Tuesday.

Unappreciated Misnomer March 11 2010 1:27 PM EST

This game falls some wheres between FFX and FFX-2, just with more glitter, which is the herpes of craft supplies, did no one tell them this? The fighting is like driving a strandard vehicle. Your Eidilons are well...tranformers. I cant complain it looks great. And once Ive completed This game, Im hitting up God of War 3. I played Dark siders which felt like it was leading up to God of War 3, and White Knight Chronicles led me up to FF13.

{DF}malS 'lo emaS [Demon Forging] March 11 2010 1:39 PM EST

No easter eggs as far as I know , but I will check into it and get back to everyone about it and white knight chronicles was .... we will just say alright ...

The thing with Final Fantasy games is that they change the battle system, and just about everything else, in every new game they make, so its no surprise to me that its different.

Angel of Death [Hell Blenders] March 11 2010 2:11 PM EST

i wished it was like ff12, i liked that battle system but you cant have it all, like i said after a few days im used to it, and its only out for 2days, how can you ppl so far, im only at the shiva sister

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] March 11 2010 2:12 PM EST

The Mechanics change, but the genre stays the same. If that makes any sense.

There's ginding for levels (Even in 8. You just had to know how to do it), exploration, massive non linear content, customisation.

This game has hardly any of that.

You can't even choose your own party until the last stages of the game. There's hardly any exploration, the game is utterly linear (bar some side quests it's best to beat after you finish the game anyway), there's no real grinding.

It's a great game. Awesome.

It's just not a 'traditional' FF game.

And I have a feeling ( I know I was), that people expected something as genre defining for Traditional JRPG that 7 was for the 'next gen' consoles.

I sincerly hope Square Enix recognise this, and drop the experimentation that has transformed the most recent FF games and make 14 (if they *make* a 14...) a 'traditional' JRPG.

GnuUzir March 11 2010 3:19 PM EST

14 already has a website: http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/

I would really like a "traditional" FF as well, even a remastered 7 would rock.

That being said I do really like this game so far.

The ability tree reminds me a lot of the sphere grid, with less insanity...

The combat, while different, has the same fast flow of the last several games and the paradigm systems beats the living poo poo out of the dress spheres from X-2...

The only thing I see really suffering in this one is replay, maybe that will change when I get to the more "open" chapters later, but right now there is not a lot making me want to play this 2, 3 or 4 times...

P.S.
I played VII at least 8-10 times through and X at least 4 times through...

Lord Bob March 11 2010 3:49 PM EST

even a remastered 7 would rock.

I would like Square to do something other than go back to 7 for a change. The setting in 6 is just begging to be revisited, for example.

14 is going to be an mmorpg ... just to let everyone know and there are two other final fantasy 13s that dont have release date yet ... but worth youtubeing , final fantasy 13 agito and my favorite final fantasy versus 13 (looks far more promising)

{Wookie}-Jir.Vr- March 11 2010 4:19 PM EST

Play Star Ocean: The last hope. Much better than FF13 ^^

Or Dragon Age.

Or Borderlands.

Or... Anything.

I doubt I'll even rent this game.

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] March 11 2010 4:21 PM EST

To each his own jiraiya..

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] March 11 2010 4:26 PM EST

Borderlands is awesome!

I could never get into Dragon Age. Just oculdn't make a face I liked on the PS3... If only we had the same options the PC does. /sigh

{Wookie}-Jir.Vr- March 11 2010 4:36 PM EST

*shrug*

Not trying to be a downer or anything, but as a long standing FF fan, I'm sick of getting shafted by Square. The ratio of good FF games to bad FF games is pretty gross...

From FF1 to FF10 (including Tactics) there was only 1 or 2 games that were 'meh'... Each had something pretty sweet about them.

10-2 sucked
11 was and is a failure including all of it's expansions
12 was boring, easy and short (although I liked the Battle System)
Crystal Chronicles sucked
Dissidia sucked
Revenant Wings was mediocre and rushed

I can remember seeing the previews for new FF games when I was in 7th grade and being SOOOOO excited for it, waiting at the store to grab the first copy, taking it home and jumping in, ignoring life for weeks at a time...

Now I see previews and go, wow this looks like a fail.

Anyways having played and beaten almost every single title, I think I've earned the right to rant.

Moving on though.

If you like it, enjoy!

Borderlands is and always will be a beast of a game (upset they took my modded guns though they let me keep my modded inventory , yay) ff13 seems like it was made for breaking grounds with graphics ... like is said versus 13 looks like it might not dissapoint , but who can tell until the day arrives ... sigh

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] March 11 2010 6:52 PM EST

What's the difference with versus?

GnuUzir March 11 2010 7:04 PM EST

What's the difference with versus?

New story/characters same setting...

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] March 11 2010 7:18 PM EST

Yep, 14 is going to be an MMO, and they announced it at last years E3.
I'm probably going to buy FFXIII this weekend sometime. And Versus is the only other FF XIII game coming to a console (PS3 exclusive) till 14. Agito is another game for PSP.

Angel of Death [Hell Blenders] March 12 2010 1:40 PM EST

so battle system in versus is the same as 13? damn thats not good

{DF}malS 'lo emaS [Demon Forging] March 12 2010 2:46 PM EST

There is scarcely any information surrounding the gameplay and battle system of Final Fantasy Versus XIII because no formal footage has been shown by Square-Enix of the gameplay online or within video game magazines.
