Potential Idea for Game Spice (in General)

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] March 25 2010 3:53 PM EDT

This is just something I thought of that could make fighting a lot more interesting and fun. A survival mode.

This would be something that you can turn on or off in settings. When it is on you will no longer automatically heal. You will still heal when you die and with the regular 30 second refresh.

Basically when you fight consecutive fights without dying or healing you get a survivor bonus that increases with each fight. Because you heal every 30 seconds at least you have to fight them all within that time frame.

So, tell me what you think.

AdminQBVerifex March 25 2010 3:55 PM EDT

Would be fun, we need potions or something that focuses on survival for this to work properly I think.

I think Nemmy has a great idea!

It would be a load of fun, plus it might make specialized strategies less boring.

Gandalf March 25 2010 4:09 PM EDT

Would be very fun!

OK. So while reading I've thought of an idea which could boost fighting fun.

Note - its very brief and not fully thought out yet - just an idea :)

Idea is:

How about random creatures being spawned every X amount of time.

These creatures would then be attacked by a whole group i.e your clan as they would be very hard.

These creatures would then give a bigger percentage of a drop than the current reward system :)

Side Note - you could have different creatures dropping different items/rares ofc.

Just an idea. Not sure if its been posted before. :)

so are we going into a diablo 2 phase now?

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] March 25 2010 5:31 PM EDT

Seems easily exploitable, unless bonus was small.

If a team has a build that let's them have all of their HP back:

-- Quick kills against melee-only teams
-- TSA/PL/VA, etc.
-- DM to DE-dependent teams.
-- Any other mis-match

You would end up with easy routes to higher bonus because you would never die. As fast as you could kill in 30 seconds, you'd be able to rack up quite a bit of extra XP, no?

It would eventually make people move toward strategies that quickly kill or do a lot of regen. While I don't mind the former, the latter would benefit, even more, TSA/PL teams -- the lamest strategy ever to exist in CB.

Then Randomly Spawn Opponents. You cannot inspect them and you have only one shot to beat them. If they are different each time then it is a shot in the dark and there are no Quick fixed to an easy bonus.

There bonus problem settled.

Routes*

QBsutekh137 March 25 2010 5:47 PM EDT

Where do you get random opponents? Your fight list? People will make fight lists with easily beatables.

No one is ever going to use a totally random opponent list, because a computer can never guess what a "decent but beatable" opponent is. That's completely impossible in this game. So, you'd end up with easy wins (low rewards), or getting beat. No one can risk having a survival bonus offset by those two things.

Gandalf March 25 2010 5:53 PM EDT

I was thinking for more of a 'Dragon of Elroth' creature being introduced and only being able to fight like randomly between 0 and 16 hours, something like that.

Then you spend x amount of BA each to try club together and take down this critter, whoever kills the beast first wins and the dragon dies till its randomly spawned again.

Also taps into a kind of like way of 'camping' as we all used to enjoy this, also benefits the clans with the downside of having high powered chars in clans.

What about a combination of all of the above:

You get say, 5 endurance matches per day.

There are many different teams and styles out there that are already created for you with an XP spread, possibly even some NPC only spells and abilities to deal with for some of the harder targets.

When you pick your target, you fight a weak version of it, and everytime you beat it without dying or healing you can click to fight again against a stronger version, maybe 200k MPR per click, starting at 200k MPR.

If you ever hit the "done" button you get a reward based on the strongest version you just killed both, what type it is, and how many clicks in a row.

If you hit the "fight" button and lose, you get 1/2 of the reward of the PREVIOUS level.

So you have to judge and see where you think you can handle till, and get a big reward for it, but if you pick wrong you still get something.

Maybe having 4-5 different choices of teams to fight against to start out, in increasing difficulty that give higher rewards the tougher you pick, and of course the more MPR you can kill in a row.

Wraithlin March 25 2010 6:31 PM EDT

oh and by 5 endurance matches, i mean this doesn't take BA, it's just a challenge you get to do on the side everyday.

Mythology March 25 2010 8:06 PM EDT

I like the idea Nem, i'd suggest the endurance time though would be like an hour a week or something like the bonus xp / money time and rather than just 30 secs, every min. Id also hope when another player kills you within that endurance period, you die, as in, cant attack until next heal.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] March 26 2010 10:16 AM EDT

my guy sometimes ends up with more hp than he started due to va and the soc. would he then keep that higher hp to start the next fight with?

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] March 26 2010 1:58 PM EDT

Great idea, but the last tourney reminded me it would be broken for AS. Unless you kill their AS minion, the entire team will be perfect next match.
