Now me an my roommate have a debate on (final fantasy)Odins affinity.

I say Odin has dark magic, you summon the guy and he appears from darkness, portals. My roommate says non-elemental magic because he does melee damage.

so whats his affinity?

Which FF?

Odin is always non-elemental. And though many of his attacks are one hit kills, they are still non elemental. And most of the games don't even have a Darkness element (though it's often a status, it's not usually an element). Those that do have Darkness usually don't have Odin. And when they both show up he's still non-elemental.

Non elemental is something that ignores magical defence. Odin uses Zantetsuken, now Zantetsuken typically causes Instant Death to all targets in most FF games, and if they are not vulnerable to Instant Death, Odin throws his lance at them for physical damage(FF5). Or in FF7 cast holy magic on a boss that is immune. And FF13 Odin uses Lightning. But I am talking about my classic old school view of Odin. Im just saying he is more Black magic(i guess the word i should use not dark) affinity way more than non-elemental.

Odin is a beast.

I would just say his affinity is death. (vivid memories of him slicing many an enemy in two)

I've always felt he was a "darker" character, but I wouldn't go as far as to say he has an affinity for dark magic.

Something can be evil without wielding "dark magic". The fact that he never uses any magic at all to my knowledge stands out the most. He slices, and throws spears.

That being said, I have to disagree with both of you. He uses neither "dark magic" OR "non-elemental magic", he is just a crazy guy, with crazy weapons and steeds that likes to hack people up.

=) and we all know there's nothing wrong with that! :D

I'd say Odin is non elemental because he slices his opponents rather than 'magicking' them.
