With my plan, I've got enough plat / factories to fully destroy and retrain most of my buildings. At hour 73-80, I will destroy everything besides my farms and factories, and rezone/rebuild them all to schools, until I'm at 90% schools, 6% Farms, 3% homes, 1% Dock. Where I will sit until I return from my trip.

That is my plan/sim. That is my first sim, I will go through and refine it now, most likely I will go OOP on 750 acres instead of 800, in favor of more defense. My current sim brings me oop on like 3200 DP, which isn't enough ^^. After refinement, I should be able to go oop on 750 acres with around 6,000 raw DP. In my sim I've got 400 more of each my elite and spec unit training/incoming within 3 hours (about 2500-3000 more raw defensive power). I also hope to improve those numbers.

My hope is that I can ride on as much DP as possible @750 land (or whatever I end up doing (my sim was pretty strenuous, so if I make errors or miss hours, it will be less successful). Hopefully as offensive power rises, my DPA (defense per acre) will drop enough to get people to hit me.

I want to be hit.

I hope to be on about 450 acres when I return from my trip. Which should allow me to get a huge amount of technological advancements (the lower the land, the lower the cost to improve. So I'll be making huge amounts of tech points on my high acres, and then lose a bunch of land and be able to tech with those points with relative ease. This is a very tricky maneuver that Lorian or Emesal (Eme is Easily dominion's number 2) came up with some many rounds ago, and won a round doing.

Well see how it works.

AdminShade April 5 2010 3:32 PM EDT

I haven't run a sim but I think my strategy will work. I'm building a good amount of Factories now and slowly let them go into homes OOP.
I'm planning on building some more Alchemies and later on let them go into smithies. besides that, running some schools will lead me somewhere :)

Make sure you don't take your land bonus until after you explore @ hour 11.

For example:

If you explore 29 acres on hour 1, they will arrive at hour 12.
You are supposed to max explore from 250 land @ hour 11, before your 29 acres comes in.

(hour 11 is the first "explore point")

The reason is that once you go from 250-270 land from your daily bonus, your exploration costs increase (plat per acre).

The difference between taking your land bonus too early, and taking it AFTER your 29 lands come in, is around a 20-30 acre difference.

For example:
My first sim I took my land bonus at hour 1, and explored 26 land hour 11.
My second sim, I took my land bonus at hour 12 after exploring my 64 acres hour 11.

Funny how little things can make all the difference.

My for sure 100% Hour 1 build looks like this:
1. Change military draft rate to 90%.
2. Release all my military into draftees.
3. Exchange 10,000 gems to platinum.
4. Rezone land to fit my build pattern.
5. Build all the land I'm going to build (all besides 17 Barren Water, which I'm leaving alone until hour 13)
6. Destroy 20 Farms and build 20 Alchemy.
7. Exchange leftover lumber to plat to explore 29 acres.

This is a copy/paste from the sim of these steps:

====== SimulationHour: 0 ( 0530 AM day 1 ) ( 0230 AM day 2 ) ======
Draftrate changed to 90%
You successfully released 150 Sprite, 25 Spies, 25 Wizards into draftees.
You exchanged 10,000 gems into 20,000 platinum
Re-zoning of 20 Mountains, 20 Caverns, 20 Forests, 3 Water to 27 Swamp, 36 Hills completed at a cost of 7,875 platinum
Construction of 40 Alchemy, 17 Tower, 56 Factory, 30 Temple started at a cost of 121,550 platinum and 12,584 lumber
Destruction of 20 Farm is complete.
Construction of 20 Alchemy started at a cost of 17,000 platinum and 1,760 lumber
You exchanged 2,906 lumber into 1,453 platinum
Exploration for 29 Plains begun at a cost of 24,650 platinum and 116 draftees. Your orders for exploration disheartens the military, and morale drops 10%

Now chances are, your hour 0/1 (first hour) will look completely different than mine. That's expected because everyone will differ between what wave they are in, and what race they are (racial bonuses and races will vary on what buildings they will use). The goal is to have the best possible start by maximizing your building.

Farms are useless early on as you start with 20,000 food. Some people destroy ALL of their farms in favor of Alchemy, but I find leaving 10 is just fine.

90% draft rate is the perfect number (the highest you can go), because you will ALWAYS need as many draftees as possible to explore as much as possible OOP, and also at the end of OOP to build troops. After OOP you can drop it to whatever % you want, but oop 90% is key.

Improvements are useless so early. +.01% of a really low number is a joke, therefor you are best off changing your gems into platinum to speed your growth.

Release all of your military back to draftees. DO NOT RELEASE DRAFTEES. This is important as again you will be needing them to explore.

The goal of hour one is to make sure you do these little steps which are HUGELY effect the outcome of your protection. As far as buildings go, it varies greatly between race/wave you'll have to do the math and decide what your own strategy will be here.

Now I've done all the above in dominion, and when the game starts it will automatically do hour 1 for me based on the changes I've made.

That being said, even though the game starts at 2:00am my time, I won't have to log into the game until 11 hours later @ 1:00pm for my hour 11 exploring. =)

Hope this helps!!

Soxjr April 6 2010 12:14 AM EDT

It finally started. I start 4 hours after the initial start. I have no idea if that makes a difference so I will ask here. Does it matter that I started 4 hours later?

AdminShade April 6 2010 1:16 AM EDT

You are under a magical state of protection for 70.75 hours.
4/6/2010 1:15:51 AM

Soxjr April 6 2010 11:59 PM EDT

ok. my question is different. I started on wave 4.. does that mean my 24 hours in is at 4am or is it still midnight. i just started 4 hours later with more resources?

AdminShade April 7 2010 1:11 AM EDT

if you got more resources then I think so. But you'll be out of protection 4 hours later as well.

{Wookie}-Jir.Vr- April 7 2010 1:51 AM EDT

You get 72 hours from the time you start. regardless of what wave you're in. So your hour 1 will be hour 4 for wave 1, but you'll still have a total of 72 hours of protection.

Hope that helps!

Soxjr April 7 2010 4:05 AM EDT

I have negative food right now. I guess i'll be ok until I build more farms.. I'm also 75% on morale for military how do i fix that?

AdminShade April 7 2010 4:25 AM EDT

exploring lowers your morale. Every hour that you wait will slowly increase it back to 100%.

I messed up with training.. but for my first round I guess I did ok. I will definately be better next round. I spent too many resources changing buildings and land, I know to sim next time to know better. I didn't sim anything and just went with the flow this time. I will know for sure how my DP is coming oop in just an hour
