CB is too hard! (in General)

TheHatchetman April 30 2010 12:34 AM EDT

The BA cap should go for 3 days... and there should be a button that spends all of our BA at one time on our fightlist... and there should be an option in settings to decide whether we wanna buy BA or not every day (You could make it a supporter preference!) because I forget sometimes... Or you should let us buy the previous days' BA up to a week...

I find this whole "spending time playing the game" thing to be ridiculous... Seriously... It's like... the longer I spend not playing... the closer the people that are playing get to passing me =-O

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] April 30 2010 12:35 AM EDT

Back in my day we had to walk uphill both ways to the armor store.

TheHatchetman April 30 2010 12:36 AM EDT

Back in your day, the armor store was worth visiting :P

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] April 30 2010 12:37 AM EDT

And we didn't have any of this sissy tattoo business either. And pants, no pants!

Although this is more then likely a joke post i feel the need to comment.

This game is not to hard but i do feel the time between empty and full BA is rather fast. I work every day Min of 8 hour besides weekends i miss a rather large chunk of BA because of this i feel like the game is punishing me for working.

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] April 30 2010 12:40 AM EDT

What is all this legitimate points of discussion nonsense. Back in my day we never had any of this business.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] April 30 2010 12:50 AM EDT

Apocolypse, I'm sure you know, but in 6BA regen, you have 8:40 worth of time before you have full BA.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] April 30 2010 12:50 AM EDT

Make that Apoclyspe*

Wraithlin April 30 2010 1:37 AM EDT

I lost over 320 BA today because I have a job.

Oh well.

A Lesser AR of 15 [Red Permanent Assurance] April 30 2010 1:46 AM EDT

In CB1, BA spent you and gave 10min breaks.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] April 30 2010 1:48 AM EDT

Since cutting regen times in half we've lost about half our active players, it might not be the root cause and certainly isn't the only one, however I don't see why we'd go further down that road.

Wraithlin April 30 2010 1:59 AM EDT

The root cause is that people want a game they can play at any time, but they don't want to be penalized for not playing all the time.

Faster regen rates makes people happy because they get to play more, but also makes people mad because the was CB is set up, it forces you to play more or settle for lack of competiveness.

Slower regen rates makes people happy because it is easier to compete, but also makes people bored because they don't get to play very much.

There would have to be a massive overhaul to the design of the game in order for everyone to be happy. I'm not sure what the best solution is, I just know what the problem is.

{WW]Nayab [Cult of the Valaraukar] April 30 2010 2:23 AM EDT

Thats the problem with life, you get more questions than you do answers.

Apoclyspe April 30 2010 3:23 AM EDT

Could make BA regains back to 10 mins and up the limit to allow up to 24 hour inactivity and still use all energy.

Apoclyspe April 30 2010 3:26 AM EDT

Also i realize 6/10 regain allows for greater time between full BA, but the time needed to get there is excessive when you factor in working and missing BA.

When I started, I had no intention of taking the number one spot... I was gonna play a game and have fun... Lo and behold, still not number one (though admittedly having less fun than I used to)... The shift in regen made it so more people could get all their BA... Before, people like PoisoN, Ranger, and DAWG (among a handful of others but i keep a short list so nobody feels bad for being left off :P) were looked at as insane for being able to spend as much of their regen as they were. BR had a lock on the number one spot. NCB was broken. Number one was out of reach, seemingly permanently... People were happy... They had other focuses. Changemonth... Beating the next guy on the list... Waking up the next day to notice you can no longer beat half your fightlist... Rabidly searching for Seeker arrows in the store to avoid spending 1/3 of their NUB money buying em for $11+ apiece... This was FUN... With things as they are now, people are no longer insane for getting all their BA in, they're considered slacking for not doing so.

I'm having less fun than I used to on account strategy hasn't changed much in a good while and I've already fleshed out every idea on my track of mind... Forums are a mess because nobody has anything to think about aside from getting to number one, politics, and ripping on others because they disagree with something that was said over half a year ago...

TheHatchetman April 30 2010 3:49 AM EDT

sorry for the doublepost, but was just spending my BA and got

Tulkas is pleased with your victory and grants you a A Katana [74x1] (+0). Use it well!

These are also fun. Normally my drops are better, but even this lowly katana put a smile on my face.

The change in BA regen made it SO much easier to spend all your ba. I used to fight a lot. Really, and I still missed some, simply because getting a good nights sleep was more important. But when you have a situation where people were setting their alarms to wake up and spend BA then things are a little...silly don't you think.

Pah, people don't know how easy they have it right now! Lol

...it were all fields around here when I was a boy. Used to have to walk ten miles across broken glass to get to school, and then another twenty to get to my job after school.....

TheHatchetman April 30 2010 5:02 PM EDT

Back when people still realized this was a game and weren't programmed to think if they weren't number one, either they suck or the system does? :P

ControlFreak April 30 2010 5:12 PM EDT

Reminds me..

I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our dad and our mother would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah.

{Wookie}-Jir.Vr- April 30 2010 5:19 PM EDT

... wait.... what? ...?

Vaynard [Fees Dirt Cheap] April 30 2010 7:06 PM EDT

I'd like to see a CB-fast where BA regenerated every couple of minutes, alongside a CB-slow where you had BA that regenerated similar to now if not slower. The two would be completely separate, and your account could have characters made on either one but not transferable between. Everyone could be competitive on one or the other or both if you wanted.

But yeah that's my crazy idea of the day. Just a way to make everyone happy.

Admiralkiller [Cult of the Valaraukar] April 30 2010 7:16 PM EDT

I like it the way it is myself.

How ever during Tournys I do like a BA cap so it allows everyone a fair chance instead of just the few that set their alarms or have all kinds of spare time lying around.

j'bob April 30 2010 9:15 PM EDT

It'd be sooooo much easier if we just had pants... I mean really, think about how tough your day would be (well, most of you) if you got all dressed up to go anywhere and had no pants.

sigh.

AdminNightStrike April 30 2010 9:40 PM EDT

What would be nice would be if we had different servers with different characteristics. They'd be completely separate character bases.

moskel [187ELiTE] April 30 2010 9:41 PM EDT

You just need to set personal goals, things you want to achieve out of playing and go for them. This is the same as in the rest of life. I'm trying to see how good I can do on NUB without taking on loans, transfer equipment, or buying items / CB$ with USD. So far so good!

skurj May 1 2010 7:37 PM EDT

"Spending time playing the game" has credit, it doesn't matter what you do in life, the more you do it the better you become.
Having said that, CB is just a game and as much as I enjoy blending it would be nigh on impossible to get ot the top without it consuming your life for 6 months, let alone maintaining it.
I play another web game that has a pretty cool aspect to it whereby you can select a 5-6 hour time whereby all players do not have to 'compete'. This allows a nice break each 24 hour period, not enough for me :) but a break nonetheless.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] May 1 2010 7:58 PM EDT

Here Here and definitely well said Hatch.

I believe I said pretty much the Same thing in Another Thread just in a different way. Know your Limitations and Accept Them under that is Strive to do better if possible. With this mindset many would be happier in the long run. They are not accepting Mediocrity or condoning Complacency. They would still be trying to move forward but would still be happy with what they have and where they are.

Ink, I get on CB every 8 hours for 20-30 minutes, I'd say that's a good "break."

You're on a much higher level that he is Titan keep that in mind.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] May 1 2010 10:26 PM EDT

Yeah, and if you work hard on an NCB for a day, you can have a 6 hour break, under a month you can easily be down to 6hr 40 min, and two months(less), 7hr 20min, finally in under 3 months you can be where I am, so hard....

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] May 2 2010 1:27 AM EDT

I don't understand why having to sleep less to perform in CB is seen as being "hard".

It's not. Sleeping less to climb the ranks of the game is an action not unlike drinking too much or climbing on a wobbly ladder. It's not praise-worthy, it's irresponsible. I'm not trying to insult anyone, because hey, I'm very good at irresponsibility in other domains...but CB isn't --hard-- at all. That's the point I want to make with this post. If two people, who are equally as proficient at strat or CBD management, were to race to the top, the most irresponsible of them would win. Not because that person was "better" at CB, but because he/she is less concerned about their own health. (Dedicated, yes, but still irresponsible to a certain extent.) It doesn't change a thing if the highest rates get you a full night's sleep. It's the way you get there that is problematic to me. Or rather how it is seen as being "hard".

I think people equate "difficulty" with "sleep deprivation" a bit too much around here. Or with "having a net-enabled cell phone". I don't get it. What should be seen as hard is coming up with a clever strat, or making sound CBD investments etc...not using work hours to burn BA or cutting your night short by 2 hours. Likewise, a CB where everyone had the same opportunity to burn BA would not be "easier". You wouldn't be a worse player because you want to sleep or remain cell phone free. You wouldn't be "lazy". It's not whiny to ask for reasonable regen rates that allow you to catch them Z's. Being a good CB player is about more than burning all BA available, despite this action being a sacrifice.

The use of the words "easy" and "hard" or the use of the word "laziness" irks me when people talk about regen rates on CB. I guess I'm just arguing semantics here, but I don't think they have their place in such discussions. Which is my point.

PS: I know this is a joke topic. I have no beef with anyone, and apart from what I try to describe in this post, I have no problems with CB. However, sometimes I need to practice my English :)

So, sorry if it sounds overly serious in here. Cheers!

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] May 2 2010 2:45 AM EDT

I barely woke up at all to burn BA during my NCB, only a few days during the week. Most of my money has been made from good CBD investments, great tat buys and great CBD purchases, as well as spending wisely. It's very easy to succeed at CB and still have a life.

winner winner May 2 2010 6:40 AM EDT

CB is not hard at all. I've gotten an average of around a set and a half of BA a day for the entire time I've been on CB. I have a nice tattoo and over 500 million networth. Having to spend time on something does not make it hard.
