Pre-ChangeLog (in Changelog)

AdminNightStrike May 13 2010 10:48 PM EDT

I'm going to do something crazy. This is a CL for a change that isn't done yet (jokes about none of my changes ever being done aside...) I need to change the settings page, so I took this chance to redo it in the theme engine. I finished, but it's markedly different than the previous one. So, I want some feedback from people based on this new look (screenshots courtesy of Gun and IA):

I'm doing it this way so that you can access the old link to compare, since you probably don't remember what's on that page anyway.

Please let me know what you think.

looks great, but just to be clear this doesn't affect people with limited functionality due to facebook integration but rather is just part of re-theming?

AdminNightStrike May 13 2010 10:55 PM EDT

correct

AdminNightStrike May 13 2010 10:56 PM EDT

Adding a change password link

AdminNightStrike May 13 2010 11:21 PM EDT

what is the help section for exactly? looks very clean otherwise though.

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] May 13 2010 11:24 PM EDT

Oooh so sexy

Demigod May 13 2010 11:37 PM EDT

Bad link is bad. (The 2nd one.)

AdminNightStrike May 13 2010 11:38 PM EDT

huh?

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] May 13 2010 11:40 PM EDT

That link works for me Demi.

Demigod May 13 2010 11:46 PM EDT

Strange, now it works for me. I tried it three or four times with error messages each time.

AdminG Beee May 14 2010 5:03 AM EDT

I don't see the link for open chat in a separate page. Please make sure that's included as it's very useful when doing admin stuff or when using multi screens.

I know I could simply bookmark the link but I'm not always logging in via my home PC.

AdminShade May 14 2010 6:41 AM EDT

Apart from what G_Beee said, I see a very good new page! :)

AdminNightStrike May 14 2010 9:56 AM EDT

Yeah, I didn't put that in. It seems so out of place. Suggestions on where else on the site might be better for it?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] May 14 2010 10:09 AM EDT

community>miscellanea>full screen chat page?

AdminShade May 14 2010 11:18 AM EDT

seems like a good place for it :)

Flamey May 14 2010 12:52 PM EDT

It affects your interface it sounds very reasonable for it to be on the settings page and not hidden in a misc page. Don't move it.

I also liked some sort of border/separation between the two "columns" :(

AdminNightStrike May 14 2010 9:00 PM EDT

What two columns?

Last Gasp May 14 2010 9:02 PM EDT

If you're not using XMarks G Beee then you need to be. I get my links in FF no matter where I am. :-)

ScrObot May 14 2010 9:05 PM EDT

The update link in the headers isn't all that intuitive to me. I think an actual "button" at the bottom of the columns instead of a text link in the header makes more sense from a usability perspective. *shrug*

AdminNightStrike May 14 2010 9:07 PM EDT

We had the update link in the header before. I just made it consistent.

ScrObot May 14 2010 9:11 PM EDT

I'm comparing it more to other pages like Train, Equip, Auctions, Forums etc. which have the "buttons" rather than text links and put them in more intuitive places. Just a suggestion. (=

I think I Gave people enough time with this. The new settings page will go live shortly, with the only change being to the chat link.
