FIFA World Cup (in Off-topic)
Hinders my working needs. :(
Every game (including upfront coverage and match analysis) is broadcasted everywhere in Berlin.
I'm losing 3 weeks of productivity! ;)
Ah the vuvuzela's. ;)
I couldn't even be bothered to watch the UKs 1-1 draw with the US... Well it did clash with some bands. ;)

Vuvuzelas are awesome.

I personally couldn't be bothered to even listen to a match because of the infamous Vuvuzelas. It wouldn't bother me so much if there was a time that they blasted the darn things. Like after a score, after a win, something. Not the whole game. Makes it annoying to listen to matches, try to enjoy the matches. I personally hope they get banned or at least only allowed during matches involving the home teams. Then I might get to watch a few matches otherwise I will keep reading about the games on espn.
They switched microphones and now sometimes you even can hear the players again! I understand that Vuvuzelas are part of the South-African fan culture, but hooliganism was part of the East-German fan culture too and luckily got banned. ;)
From what I understand, some stations are using bandstop filters to filter out the base frequency and some of the higher harmonics. However, some commentators don't like this, because they think that it removes some of the 'atmosphere'. Bollocks, that's what I say.
I hate those things. If they were not blown constantly it would be great, but just mindless noise is a pain. I usually just have to mute or turn the volume way down, so I do not have to listen to them.
I do not think that they should be banned as they are part of the culture, but I think that the South Africans should consider something to do about them if they ever what to have another large event there.

They are so annoying it's untrue. Fair enough make some noise when something exciting happens.... But for the sake of sanity don't do it the whole game.
I figured i should use this thread instead of just making a new one. But America got ripped off on a win yesterday. This is why we dislike Soccer. American sports, you have to give a reason for the foul. Sure, you get the final say as the Judge/Ump/Whatnot, but you give a reason. We got no reason. The winning kick was flagged down and the judge just walks off.

Yeah, that was a total outrage. I understand that refs are human and make mistakes like anyone else, but come on. This is the world cup we are talking about here, and whats even worse is that the guy couldnt even give a reason why the goal was waved off. Even after the game no one on the U.S. team had received any reason why their goal wasnt counted.

Messi did that same thing Loch, not in a World cup match, but it happens as well.
But, the good news is that FIFA is expediting an 'expanded' review of Couliably's performance this weekend and once they see the poor performance in several areas (disallowing a goal that should have clearly been counted, calling a handball and giving a yellow card when the replays show clearly the ball never even hit Findley in the hand at all and then to not red card the Slovenian for clearly aggressively taking town Jozy Altidore with a shove)... The review committee will see the poor performance and take the ref's whistle away. Gotta feel sorry for the guy, (like the baseball perfect game 27th out called safe), but he obviously could've done a better job...

Watched every match so far
I have watched just about every match. I would have listened also except for those incredibly annoying horns.
Also watched most matches and think that the group stage was rather disappointing till now. There have been many questionable referee decisions (although they do have a hard job many seemed overchallenged) and I really hope that the knockout stage will be better in gameplay and refs.
I agree, I like the knockout stage much better than the group. There have been some questionable calls, but you also have a lot team playing more conservatively for the draw. The will hopefully open up more next week.

yep....
Group stages = play not to lose
Knockout rounds = play to win
pity I have to work when most/all the games are on...
Wow. Now that was amazing, congrats US you got revenge for Slovenia! ;)

BRRRRRR
From a british fan: "This World Cup is exactly like the second world war: The French surrender early, the US turn up late, and we're left to deal with the bloody Germans."
The only thing the french are good for is hosting invasions.

Scoring an own goal and then getting sent off in the same game qualifies as a bad at the office....
Man, Shade must be stoked!
