Savage capitalism sure is fun stuff, huh?

It's probably a bit off but not by much. It's scary to see this and think even when we are making fun of things there still rings a measure of truth to it....Sad.

BTW I want to say I used to work for a company that was contracted to BP and therefore would like to be counted as one of the 92k that would be getting the free car. <.< >.>

Unfortunate. Reminds me of a project I did back in high school where I used math to demonstrate how, with the right economic strategy, we could lift entire countries out of poverty with what the US spends on the war in a single day.

I have a pet peeve when it comes to military spending. It has nothing to do with pro- or anti-war. It just seems that following the Vietnam War issues with poor treatment of vets, modern vets get insanely strong benefits and no politician has the balls to do the suicide move of pulling them back in check. And with 1/3 of our troops now qualifying for PTSD, it's not exactly improving.

I've seen more vets riding the system than I have civilians, and that's no exaggeration. I used to work with a guy who broke a finger playing basketball and now gets disability. His finger is just fine, but he also claimed back pain when he saw the doc and now gets $10k/year for life. I'm not sure how long he was in the military, but it was just a few years. Tax money well spent...
