On dead zones. (in General)

It seems to me that the much-complained-of dead zone is only a dead zone if you're set on running the same strategy for your entire N*B. Over the course of my NUB so far, I've retrained the vast majority of my XP 4 times and have had no trouble with this fabled dead zone.

I would argue that the zone is not dead- rather, it requires a willingness adapt, even tailor, your strategy to the opponents available to you, rather than staying the course with the strategy you've decided on.

Retorts and rebuttals welcome.

Well bro you have a point but most do not want to lose the exp from the retrains. In essence they are trying to squeeze every last single little itty bitty exp they can from their N*B Bonus. So think about this bro 2%, 5% and so on from all of those massive retrains add up to a whole lot of MPR in the end.

Womp August 2 2010 7:31 PM EDT

That's true, Zen, but you don't lose nearly as much MPR from retrains as you gain from fighting at a good challenge bonus for the majority of your N*B rather than simply accepting sub-25% or even negative challenge bonuses for a significant amount of time.

That depends on how many retrains you have to do to keep up....tis a slippery slope to say the least. I will not even go onto the subject of trading out or having available items for these retrains to have maximum effect. Bottom line if the player in question doesn't completely dedicate themselves, to the point of ignoring RL for most, then this is a moot way to go Womp. Sooner or Later the slope will get too slippery and you will have to stick with one strat. Things happen bro and yoou cannot anticipate them all, this is why many do not do it or even consider it.

I'm thinking people say "dead zone" when they are start with a 1 or 2 man fightlist. I haven't seen a point in this game when I couldn't get a decent challenge bonus off of a couple people.

The zone's not dead by that standard either, SK. Even at my low MPR (limiting potential targets due to MPR disadvantage) I've got 3 clan targets over 4m, one over 5m, and 2 more non-clan in the mid 4mil range.

If this got started from me mentioning it in the other thread, I was referring to the void in clan scores that was very noticeable until this week.

So what caused my entire fightlist to drop in score?

Womp August 2 2010 8:53 PM EDT

Probably me shifting a lot of score from the 6 mil range, through Sal, Lord Bob, and db(until Thaddeus reinked), down into the "dead zone" characters.
