To be lazy, I originally thought to use my Windows Live account to sign in, but Ubi soft wanted access to all my contacts...

Ankou August 10 2010 12:30 PM EDT

Signed up, looks cool. Played Heroes 3&5 and its similar enough that I can pick it up fast.

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] August 10 2010 12:41 PM EDT

Uhmm.

Can we get a short description about the game?

I'm thinking about playing it but I need more info.

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] August 10 2010 12:47 PM EDT

Well, the other Heroes games were rpg/turnbased strategy. You collected resources to build up your city, build up armies conquor the map :) You have a hero which can get spells, lvl up, get artifacts, lead your creatures. Not sure how much it will be changed here.

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] August 10 2010 12:49 PM EDT

Sounds promising. :)

I'll give it a shot.

three4thsforsaken August 10 2010 1:01 PM EDT

I'm going to try this out. Name is three4thsforsaken

Free Browser based MMO in the Heroes of M&M universe

The land is set up in a grid pattern, you have a city and you command an army of troops, gather resources, trade with and attack other players and form alliances. Actions such as attacking and building take a specified amount of time that is. As the game progresses, you gain the ability to expand your control by building other cities and interacting with other players. Very similar to many other browser based RTS games in its core, but has a very familiar feel if you have ever played any of the other games in the Heroes series.

To me, it feels like Evony with the Heroes universe pasted on it and the overwhelming push to pay to be better removed, as well as the banner adds.

three4thsforsaken August 10 2010 1:05 PM EDT

Hmm, having trouble picking a faction. What would you recommend?

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] August 10 2010 1:09 PM EDT

I made a CB alliance on there, can invite people

Womp August 10 2010 1:46 PM EDT

joining in a few minutes.

Womp August 10 2010 1:49 PM EDT

Not available in Aruba? >_<

Canibus August 10 2010 2:05 PM EDT

Hmm, a CB alliance? I might consider playing that game again -_-

Ankou August 10 2010 2:21 PM EDT

can you hit em up with an invite to the cb alliance?
Player name is ankou

Ankou August 10 2010 2:25 PM EDT

A Lesser AR of 15 [Red Permanent Assurance] August 10 2010 2:40 PM EDT

Call off the invasion. This is another town builder. -.-

Windwalker August 10 2010 2:56 PM EDT

If it's like Evony or Kingory it takes forever to do anything. Then someone comes along and rips everything down in a few seconds :( weeks or months of building gone. I signed to see but may delete this one.

Wraithlin August 10 2010 4:21 PM EDT

well looks like i get to wait to try it out.

it sees my IP as Japan and the game hasn't been released in Japan yet.

Unappreciated Misnomer August 10 2010 4:57 PM EDT

if its anything like heroes of might and magic 3 +xpac my favorite im playing.

Ankou August 10 2010 5:54 PM EDT

From MMHK admin (@windwalker)

Avitas,

Fortunately for you, the initial phase of the game gives you 15 days of newbie protection, where you cannot be attacked or attack. It gives you time to build and recover from mistakes.

In addition, you can only lose a maximum of 30% of your force per battle. Which means even if you get rocked in a battle, your entire force isn't gone. Even though the unit stack is defeated and wiped out in the battle, your definitive losses will never total more than 30%.

Finally, your biggest asset will be your alliance. As you help each other break sieges, attack halts, and repel enemy attacks, even a beaten and bloodied member can be afforded time to mend from their wounds by their alliance's protection.

Heroes Kingdoms differs somewhat from other games in the genre by having these elements, combined with the seasons system, to offer an exciting style of gameplay that is typically too risk-oriented to interest the Maverick within.

To further illustrate, I myself made some huge mistakes my first playthrough and was still able to remain competitive.

Finally, if you only have one remaining city, it cannot be sieged/captured by an enemy player. You can still be attacked/pillaged, but your city itself won't have it's walls continually knocked down.

Hope that helps.

Ooh, I love Heroes of Might and Magic (I have 2, 3, and 5 and enjoy playing them every once in a while)!

I'll give it a try now!

BadFish August 10 2010 6:47 PM EDT

I've started. Character name CBBadfish.
So far, it seems all right. I'd recommend it to any HOMM fan; it seems to be based mostly on HOMM5.
If you're not a Heroes fan, you probably won't see this game as anything more than a standard town builder.

AbbathorX August 10 2010 7:25 PM EDT

Oddly, none of the pictures show up ingame. I can't tell what type the units are, so I don't know what type to have them fight. It's all very annoying. Doesn't work in Firefox or IE, anyone else have problems?

BadFish August 10 2010 7:27 PM EDT

I've had problems with icons showing up too. I can see units though. Using FF.

Tyriel [123456789] August 10 2010 8:05 PM EDT

Yeah, I had problems viewing the website, I can't see units, can't see my city, stuff like that.

The website problems seemed to go away after a while, hopefully the other problems do, too.

BadFish August 10 2010 8:31 PM EDT

As i've continue playing the problems loading images have gotten worse. It's starting to really interfere with gameplay.

BadFish August 10 2010 8:49 PM EDT

After logging out and attempting to log back in, I can no longer log in. Their home page is now just white background with a few lines of text. Maybe they're having server issues?

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] August 10 2010 9:14 PM EDT

Yeah, something definitely seems wrong with the server.

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] August 11 2010 12:22 AM EDT

So. recruiting more heroes is smart. Because then you will be able to do almost twice as much correct?

BadFish August 11 2010 2:02 AM EDT

I'm probably going to try to keep my hero amount at the cap. for non-subscribers that's 3 heroes for the first few weeks, then it goes up to 4, then 5, all after a couple of weeks in between. Subscribers can have 10 heroes at a time from the start. 10 heroes is likely too much until you have quite an empire built.

QBOddBird August 13 2010 8:33 PM EDT

There are two lands open, Dragon Legacy and The Ravaged Lands. Which are you lot on?

I suspect you're on DL, since it says it is half-full, but I just wanted to make sure. I don't wanna join a non-CB land!

QBOddBird August 15 2010 10:50 PM EDT

I'm considering firing a Hero. >.>

But my Hero hiring cost is up to 27k. I'm wondering if that's because I have 3 already, and if it will drop if I fire one. I really don't want to pay that much for a new hero.

[Where Shirt]Freekie [Lower My Fees] August 16 2010 12:06 AM EDT

Yes i dropped one to get more of an army (since it says each one arrives with their own army.) Price went back to 6K to hire... but no new army came with them... FAIL!

QBOddBird August 16 2010 12:28 AM EDT

Yeah, doesn't seem worthwhile to build an army from. I just wanted a better Hero, picked a poor one last time.

QBOddBird August 16 2010 12:29 AM EDT

I'm seriously considering switching worlds, though, now that I know a bit more about what I'm doing.

QBOddBird August 16 2010 1:33 AM EDT

Okay, I'm doing it. Ravaged Lands it is. I hope I don't regret this decision =X

QBOddBird August 16 2010 1:40 AM EDT

:D It looks like you can play both!

QBOddBird August 20 2010 7:10 PM EDT

If anyone else from CB is in Ravaged Lands, please let me know. We have a pretty strong alliance going over there as well, though it is not CB-exclusive.

AbbathorX August 20 2010 7:31 PM EDT

Sadly, your RL server appears to be full, or just not showing up as available for me. Is it in the US area or elsewhere?

QBOddBird August 20 2010 9:06 PM EDT

Maybe it is full? It tells me that both Dragon Legacy and Ravaged Lands are half full. Maybe Ravaged is closed now, idk.

Cylo August 20 2010 9:22 PM EDT

I just started and it put me on the zombie assembly world. I can't seem to have any other worlds to choose from. So if anyone is playing there send me a message. Not sure I like it though. Very very slow to start.

QBOddBird August 20 2010 10:04 PM EDT

Sounds like the other worlds are closed off for season 1. I checked, and non-subscription accounts are limited to playing two worlds. Good luck to you Cylo!

lostling August 21 2010 2:49 AM EDT

apparently my country cant play it yet anyway

Wraithlin August 21 2010 3:06 AM EDT

yeah i get the same message even though i want to play on US servers
