Simply awesome. (in Off-topic)

My new favorite show.

Saw the first episode last night and was really impressed. Was expecting a cheesy, campy, spoof but this was really well done.

If Lennie James is half as good as he was in Jericho this series should be great.

Admiralkiller [Cult of the Valaraukar] November 1 2010 10:32 AM EDT

Watched it too. I thought it was good as well, we will have to see if the awesomeness carries on throughout the season.

Is the name of the show Simply Awesome?

Victimizer November 1 2010 1:31 PM EDT

The Walking Dead is the name of the show.

Thanks. I'll have to check it out. Thank God for one-click hosting sites :)

Yep, I watched it when it leaked last week, it is amazing.

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] November 1 2010 2:13 PM EDT

It's not just the show, AMC does a great job with getting these top quality shows, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, now this... Haven't seen Rubicon, but everything else is amazing.

QBRanger November 3 2010 10:58 PM EDT

I have it DVRd, just waiting for a quite 90 min to see it.

I heard it is a 6 part series for now. Anyone else here differently?

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] November 3 2010 11:46 PM EDT

It replays Friday night at 9 CST, then again at 1.

But yeah, it's a 6 episode season, but I believe it is already under contract for a 2nd season.

Another American show with a Brit (Andrew Lincoln) in the lead. Do you not have any actors over there? (relax, I know why it happens, we're cheaper to hire!)

Dominic West as The Wire's Jimmy McNulty
Idris Elba as The Wire's Stringer Bell
Hugh Laurie as House's Gregory House
Minnie Driver as The Riches' Dahlia Malloy
Eddie Izzard as The Riches' Wayne Malloy
Ian Hart as Dirt's Don Konkey
Marianne Jean-Baptiste as Without a Trace's Vivian Johnson
Anna Friel as Pushing Daisies' Charlotte "Chuck" Charles
Michelle Ryan as Bionic Woman's Jaime Sommers
Damian Lewis as Life's Charlie Crews
Joely Richardson as Nip/Tuck's Julia McNamara
Ian McShane as Deadwood's Al Swearengen
Joseph Fiennes as Flash Forward's Mark Benford
Jamie Bamber as Battlestar Galactica's Lee "Apollo" Adama
James Callis as Battlestar Galactica's Dr. Gaius Baltar
Lena Headey as Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' Sarah Connor
Rufus Sewell as Eleventh Hour's Jacob Hood
Stephen Moyer as True Blood's Bill Compton

Never mind the Canadians, Australians and Kiwis that are working in US TV at the moment.

How does it go down with Americans? Do the accents sound weird, or do you even notice? I know that I hear Brits doing American accents and it definitely sounds odd to my ears, although I'm not entirely sure if that's because I know what their British accent sounds like.

(I didn't even know Jamie Bamber in BSG was British. Turns out he went to school with one of my friends.)

Does it matter where the actor comes from? Is all that matters whether or not you believe in them in a role?

Just watched this last night.

Yes, it really is that good.

I'm pretty sure the actors' guild nuked that possibility. There seems to be an issue with American women loving British accents. But before you let it go to your head, I should say British-sounding, as a lot of them can't tell the difference between British, Australian, and British-esque South African accents. Sad.

InebriatedArsonist November 5 2010 12:44 PM EDT

Lennie James was pretty good in the 2009 version of The Prisoner.

Fortunately, in my experience, the reverse is true as well - a lot of British women love American accents. Or maybe just southern accents. IDK

Admiralkiller [Cult of the Valaraukar] November 7 2010 9:10 PM EST

Going to be on in 1 hour!

Vaynard [Fees Dirt Cheap] November 7 2010 10:27 PM EST

I have high hopes for this show, the first episode was excellent.

A Lesser AR of 15 [Red Permanent Assurance] November 8 2010 3:47 AM EST

It's the southern accent.

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] November 8 2010 4:56 AM EST

Omg, awesome again! It's amazing how well they stick with the comic, but the stuff they add is just perfect.

Admiralkiller [Cult of the Valaraukar] November 14 2010 6:21 PM EST

Another episode this evening! Don't miss it.

Adminedyit [Superheros] November 15 2010 5:31 AM EST
