Why Can't PR last as long as needed? (in General)

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] November 5 2010 11:20 PM EDT

As the Title says. Why not? It is really irritating that the one Thread type that needs an elongated time span has the same time limit as the rest. FS/WTB is Special that it is tailored for it's needs can't PR get the same lovin?

::shrug::

Fine by me. The only time I ever had a long PR was with the 16m loan I had with Miteke. Having to create a new one that linked back to the others was annoying. Considering we have a smaller game with a responsible players, I don't see a real downside.

AdminNightStrike November 6 2010 12:00 AM EDT

How long?

AdminTal Destra November 6 2010 12:01 AM EDT

at least 3 months

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] November 6 2010 12:22 AM EDT

I would say as needed. I would be happy to have to just pay the fee for re-upping my thread rather than having to remake it.

Let's say since I am the Thread Creator when the time comes for a regular closing I get a CM or something saying your thread is about to close: Let it Close or Keep it open? If I want to keep it open then I pay the fee as if it were a New thread if not it closes as normal.

If this can't be done then what Tal said should be close to being right imho.

i had 45M debt and already made 7 threads. Currently have 3 open and 30M debt that will last for another month thread will close again and i will have to create 2 more threads

this is so boring

Sickone November 6 2010 11:20 AM EDT

How long?

"Infinite" would be a nice option.
As in, never closes.

ScrObot November 6 2010 12:57 PM EDT

I think a simpler solution is "automatically close the thread 2 weeks after the last post", for the entire forum section. *shrug*

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] November 6 2010 2:05 PM EDT

Or the ability by the thread creator to just shut it down when the PR Deal is done.

Demigod November 6 2010 2:45 PM EDT

The notion of a system that CMs you with the option to pay to keep it open is too complex. I don't see NS jumping with joy to code all of that. Going with the most simplistic route, a specified time of three or four months would be easiest, but I think Scrobot's got the right idea. Having the threads close 2-4 weeks after the last post would safeguard massive loans while not giving people the option to resurrect long-since completed ones.

iBananco [Blue Army] November 6 2010 2:54 PM EDT

What's wrong with them never closing?

I thought of that a bit late and then gave this Idea

Or the ability by the thread creator to just shut it down when the PR Deal is done.

like Demi said even though I have cut it out of the convo : "To" safeguard massive loans while not giving people the option to resurrect long-since completed ones.

It would be quite irritating if we had another Troll, like the one that targeted Shade, come through and bump every single PR Thread Old and New alike out of spite. If it is done then it should be Closed.
This thread is closed to new posts. However, you are welcome to reference it from a new thread; link this with the html <a href="/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=0037TX">Why Can't PR last as long as needed?</a>
