Bob Needs a Song (in Contests)

Lord Bob November 6 2010 2:26 PM EDT

Ok, I need you guys' help. I've been trying to track down this song for the past few weeks now, with no luck. Here's the problem: I don't know the band, the song title, or even the lyrics. I could 'hum' the melody into a site like this: http://www.midomi.com/ .. but I have no microphone.

Here's what I have:
It's modern rock, hard and semi-industrial.
It's slower, more like a ballad.
Vocalist sounds a bit Johnathan Davis-ish, but I'm 99% sure it's not KoRn.
Last time I heard it was at a strip club where a gothy/hardcore looking girl was dancing to it.
It had been played on the radio, but not very recently.
End of the chorus sounds something like "falling into you," but it's not exactly that. I only remember the last word is "you."

I know it's not much to go by, but a lot of you seem to be pretty good with music, so I figured it's worth a shot here. It's not like I have any other leads. $50,000 reward.

not much to go on there bobbers!

i will take a stab at it though, nine inch nails, sanctified.

Lord Bob November 6 2010 2:52 PM EDT

not much to go on there
I know. *sigh*

It is not Nine Inch Nails. I'd know them a mile away.

Demigod November 6 2010 2:52 PM EDT

It's a long shot, but it might be Row, Row, Row Your Boat. Goth strippers love dancing to that.

Do you know how old the song may be? If it's a bit older, Stabbing Westward ("What Do I Have to Do?") comes to mind..

Oh I forgot to say if you have headphones(small ones like for a portable CD player) then you actually can use that site you posted. Plug them into the Mic Jack and you can use, if I remember right, the left one as a mic. It's not the best but it does work, I had to do the same thing when mine bit the dust and had an important convo on my comp and no time to go buy one. (>.<)

Do you know how old the song may be?
Has to be within the last 3-8 years. Probably on the younger side of that.

If it's a bit older, Stabbing Westward ("What Do I Have to Do?")
World of no.

Very nice. Thanks Z! If this leads to the right answer, you win.

I doubt I'll be home until late Sunday or early Monday though, so I might not be able to try until then.

Another Linkin Park guess, "From the Inside"? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLHpvjrFpe0&ob=av2e

Lord Bob November 6 2010 4:44 PM EDT

It is really, really, really not Linkin Park.

doubles are bad, but this might be useful. This links to some resources where you can use a virtual keyboard to tap out a tune. No mic needed!

Also, minidomi has an iPhone app, if you have access to one.

Lord Bob November 6 2010 5:19 PM EDT

Thanks Ankou.

And no, I do not have an iPhone.

Lord Bob November 6 2010 6:11 PM EDT

Tal comes the closest with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLfM-g8i9Aw

Not the same song, but this is very similar to the one I'm searching for. Again, I don't think it's KoRn, but certainly the voice and styles are similar.

have you ruled out Manson?

'falling into you' is a celine dion song. ewwwww

AdminTal Destra November 6 2010 6:53 PM EDT

ankou you shoulda linked him that in CM... not pg bro

Ankou November 6 2010 7:18 PM EDT

posted w/o thinking, my bad

Lord Bob November 6 2010 7:23 PM EDT

Ankou, Tal send me the link to that one earlier. Thanks though. This is the kind of song I'm referring to.

you shoulda linked him that in CM
Hmm, didn't think that would be an issue. In that case I would prefer just song titles posted here rather than links in chat mail. I always prefer public forums to chat mail. (No offense Tal. You're still in the lead so far. *grin*)

Lord Bob November 6 2010 7:28 PM EDT

have you ruled out Manson?
No.

'falling into you' is a celine dion song. ewwwww
I know. *shudders* Which is why I'm sure I got those exact lyrics wrong. *grin*

Found it.

I realize it was a ridiculous contest, but thanks to all who participated all the same.

Wow, there's a song I haven't heard in years. The reason it sounds "Jonathan Davish-ish," as you said, is because this was sung by Mark Chavez, who is the half brother Jonathan Davis. He since left the band.

I realized that after I found out it was Adema.
