I am in the same boat as you. A NUB owes me 18 mill and has some huge ELB sitting on their account but alas there is apparently nothing anyone can do >_<.

QBOddBird December 19 2010 1:50 AM EST

You sold him items on a payplan for a couple mil 2 days after he had started...can't get much more high-risk than that :P

I'm always shocked to see loans to brand new players. I don't know why they're so motivated to take out debt, and I don't know why vets are willing to accept the risk for under 30% interest.

At the time, I thought you were being kind and inviting to a new player. Now... more of a sucker. :)

from the public record forum description:

If 2 people enter into a deal, and it is posted here, and one person backs out, or scams the other person, here is what will happen:

If person A scams person B, we will reset A. We do not want to encourage scamming. BUT, it is your responsibility to make sure the person you are dealing with is trustworthy. We also do not want to encourage the thinking of, "so what if this guy offering me a cornuthaum for $100k is scamming me, all I have to is whine to the admins to get my money back." So no, we're not in the property recovery business. Same goes for loan installment payments. In other words: if you want truly scamproof trading, your only option is the auction system.

other than a reset, emailing them through the form is really your only option. ; (

I've emailed him... maybe I'll get a response before I age too much.

lostling December 19 2010 11:03 AM EST

probably a better idea to keep renting him the item until he full pays it next time

Zenai December 19 2010 11:19 AM EST

Hmm maybe a new feature should be added to the system to prevent this from happening.

"Rent to Own"

Obvious payment for the rental then a paymentplan through it as an option. If the person renting it Completes the plan then ownership is transfered to them. If the renter doesn't follow through with payments they default and the Item goes back to the original owner as if it were a regular rental.

Just a thought...................

I'll take this one, b/c I just through cash and small stuff at people I think can use it. People loan stuff to new users b/c they want them to stay. We know that new users aren't going to be happy about being gouged with prices b/c they're new, so we deal with the likely hood of getting screwed hoping that a few times when we help new users, they'll stay.

He got on and sent it back to me...

Demigod December 19 2010 5:36 PM EST

Very cool. Glad to hear it had a happy ending.

Wtg Dijital, wish you could have stayed.
