Idea for new item or tweak to HoC (in General)

We all know how the HoC works allowing ranged and DD to fire an extra round of ranged combat. Well i had a thought what if we do that same thing but for melee we could call it...

Boots of Bloodlust: Allows the wearer to 1 dodge the HoC extra round and 2 Melee in the last round of ranged. each + gives a .03 to BL.

thoughts?

so this acts like the hoc in the sense that melee can fire in the last round of range but it negates all other regular hoc's AND adds to BL?

By itself, I like the idea of an item I could equip to counter the HoC round. That would be useful.

And by itself, I really would love to equip an upgradeable item to further boost my Bloodlust.


But all 3 in one item? Don't you think that might be a bit much?

well OB the HoC is already a bit much in a game largely predicated on ranged dmg. i think the counter needs to be equally absurd :D.

Too much going on for one item me thinks. I'd suggest something like "Boots of Artful Dodging", completely avoids the extra round that the HoC allows for ranged (both for ranged weapons and DD to be fair) and allows you to attack with melee during the last round of ranged. Adding + to it simply adds AC and nothing more. Would be a bit more balanced out that way in my opinion.

Initial AC should be something low like 4 or 5, and it should be fairly expensive to upgrade past +15.

The HoC isn't really absurd at all, it adds one extra round to ranged, if you want a counter to that canceling out that extra round is more then enough.

Then you fix the unbalanced item. You don't add something even more unbalanced.

it adds an extra round of ranged which combined with DM and a big enough ranged pretty much can end the fight before melee

the other reason is because unless im reading BL wrong it is progranmmed only to hit during melee so the + is for that

Completely depends on your setup, I fight people with HoCs and still win, I dont use HoC and I'm ranged focus and I still do a pretty good job.

If your facing a full blown archer with DM and you are weak to DM, you're going to drop in ranged regardless whether they have a HoC or not. Most likely your going down well before round 6 of ranged.

The counter to it is exactly like I suggested, maybe even slightly less. Having an Item that simply cancels out and dodges that one round is more then enough.
