What if there was no internet? (in Off-topic)

Lochnivar March 10 2011 3:06 PM EST

Pretend for a moment that there is no internet, how would your life be different?

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] March 10 2011 3:07 PM EST

I'd be a very happy houseless person with a lot of books

Demigod March 10 2011 3:16 PM EST

Porn would be harder to hide...

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] March 10 2011 4:44 PM EST

Outside would be overcrowded again.

AdminQBVerifex March 10 2011 4:50 PM EST

I would be a dancing bard.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] March 10 2011 4:54 PM EST

you mean go back to the days of aol and prodigy.net, egads!

VsCountStrum [Black Watch] March 10 2011 4:55 PM EST

What do you mean 'IF'? There are those of us who remember when it did not exist. Back when you actually interacted with people in the real world instead of hiding in our house and going to a chat room.

Lochnivar March 10 2011 5:02 PM EST

I remember school before computers...

Paper and pencils and books oh my!

Unappreciated Misnomer March 10 2011 5:23 PM EST

I'd still be inside playing console video games.

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] March 10 2011 5:28 PM EST

Without such easy sharing of information we wouldn't be as advanced of a civilization. Look at our rate of progress before and after the internet, its much faster now (in some ways, some things never change.)

Lord Bob March 10 2011 5:28 PM EST

I'd be out of a job.

QBJohnnywas March 10 2011 5:33 PM EST

I might actually get some work done, and have room on my desk for things where the comp currently sits.

Demigod March 10 2011 5:55 PM EST

No more outsourced call centers!

Xenogard [Chaotic Serenity] March 10 2011 6:24 PM EST

I'd be out every night doing the Charleston

rusty March 10 2011 7:08 PM EST

Jon would have made a board game instead.

Admiralkiller [Cult of the Valaraukar] March 10 2011 7:23 PM EST

BBS?

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] March 10 2011 8:02 PM EST

Packets would be in envelopes?

King March 10 2011 8:07 PM EST

My books would be on shelves instead of of in cardboard boxes alphabetized and by genre, I'd be up a few thousand dollars from not paying 20ish years of internet fees and there would be no talk about how horrible other people are because of MMOs and anonymity...

There would be no Dwarf Fortress... my life would remain forever incomplete from the lack of stupid Dwarves doing my bidding, most of the time anyways, and dying on my whims.

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] March 10 2011 9:25 PM EST

Only the people who didn't even laugh would know what Sen. Simpson said re: today's old people not liking today's youth because of the Snoopy Snoopy Poop Dogg and Enema Man.

Thanks to the internet, we all get to know. And laugh.

Demigod March 10 2011 9:41 PM EST

Xenogard [Chaotic Serenity] March 10 2011 10:07 PM EST

^ Thank you internet.

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] March 10 2011 11:24 PM EST

The real tragedy in that story is the intervention Sen. Simpson clearly needs for his deviant fetishes.
