Anyone watching this series on HBO? Your thoughts? I have read the first 3 books and look for to reading 1 more and another should be coming out soon. (no spoilers please) but I would like to hear thoughts on the books as well.

I started watching it on a friends recommendation, and i can't wait for the next episode to come out the next week.
Can't tell you about the books because i haven't read them, but the tv show looks and feels amazing.

I have seen all but the latest episode.
Very stylish, good acting.
The plot is moving along at a brisk rate and the end of the last episode was amazing.
I would say it is a good, but not yet great, watch.
I also read that they have greenlighted another year.

Watching it online as its not out over here yet and enjoying it.
(though i dont think its as good as some of the shows that have recently been axed).
Will definatly be reading the books asap and the double episode release last week has made this last two weeks drag whilst waiting for the next episode
First episode was so slow and boring (I've read the book, and had to constantly explain everything to those wathcing it) we've not bothered to watch the rest yet.
Unlike the Spartacus prequal, which was devoured as fast as we could.

I am addicted to this show, along with all my coworkers.
I've been watching it as well. I like the story (haven't read the books), in fact the only thing I don't like about it is that last episode felt a little too much like a porno.

Ah. What a pity.
I liked it, and I watched it with fiancee, I'm just saying, I can't exactly watch this with friends/family without feeling a bit uncomfortable. Dude, it's porn yo. ;P
You should try Spartacus. ;)

I started reading the Song of Ice and Fire series at the turn of the year before I knew the first book (GoT) was being made for TV.
Without doubt the books are the best FF I've read in a while and the TV series hasn't disappointed either. I'm now on the 4th book, A Feast for Crows, and am gutted that I'm going to catch up with the publisher before he's finished releasing everything to print. I believe there's 7 in the series and only 5 currently published as far as I know.
I'm 100% with GL regarding having to stop the playback to explain who's who and why certain things are happening. I think it must be really confusing for those that haven't read the book and feel that even if it's not confusing you must be missing a good deal of the detail that comes with having read the book. The TV makers have done as well as they could given the challenges that come when televising a novel however.
PS. It's not porn... :)
It's not porno. It's H B O.
Good show, exemplary acting, and no elves or pixies. Also has sweet armors.
Hope Peter Dinklage & Mark Addy take home awards.
G, I was bowled over by Patrick Rothfuss and his début "The name of the Wind".
You should check it out if you want another Fantasy book to read. ;)

Looks good GL.
As of 2011, the first two books have been released, with the release date of the third still unknown.
I've downloaded to my kindle but I'm not going to start until I know the 3rd book is in the post... I hate getting half way through a series only to find myself waiting for x years on it being finished. I've done that so many times and am currently doing it again with the Song of Ice and Fire :(
The second has just been released. ;) It's good, but just a fraction behind the first.
Now I've got a long wait for the third. :(
(He's also an unashamed geek, which is always great! :D)
