Fun New Skill (don't take it too seriously) (in General)

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] July 31 2011 8:38 AM EDT

Not that this could be implemented without work, but I think it would be fun and add a crazy weird new gameplay element.

Skill: Equip Change
Trained to some % of a stat

In the first melee round whatever minion has this trained to full effect will change equipment to a different set, for the rest of the fight.

Enchanters turning into walls, walls dropping heavy armor and becoming light melee tanks, etc. You would have to give up BL or archery, but the fun factor would make up for it :D

miteke [Superheros] July 31 2011 9:06 AM EDT

I don't know what to say. I'm dumbfounded :)

Unappreciated Misnomer July 31 2011 10:32 AM EDT

you would lose 2 rounds though. one to remove gear and another to put it on, in that time you ded.

Unappreciated Misnomer July 31 2011 10:42 AM EDT

maybe if there were also an item you could equip so there is another bonus(on top of training the skill) where you change gear in the first round of range. then enchanters goes into tank mode for full effect.

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] July 31 2011 10:54 AM EDT

I wasn't seeing it that way. Last round of ranged you have one set, first round of melee you have the other set.

King July 31 2011 12:02 PM EDT

This would make just about every enchanter turn into a heavy wall since they wouldn't need to care about the penalties after the first cast, although it wouldn't be cheap, seeing 2-3 minions suddenly gain 300 AC in one round would definitely break some strategies and render others useless(RoBF). =/

King July 31 2011 12:09 PM EDT

Forgot to ask, would this make AMF re-scale during melee or would someone be able to equip NsCs for the start of the battle and suddenly switch to AGs and gain a the damage bonus?

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] July 31 2011 12:28 PM EDT

AG/NSC switching wouldn't work that way, but like I said this would be so much work to implement. Just fun to think of the possibilities.

I don't know if it would ruin the RoBF, but they would have to make some changes.

King July 31 2011 12:44 PM EDT

Biggest RoBF in the game against enchanter in enchanter gears + RoS
Thy burns from the flames surrounding a maug warrior (3814231)

Same RoBF against Enchanter in wall gear with Steel Skin (minus AoAC and HoD) approx cost of wall set - ~40M
-Epitaph burns from the flames surrounding a maug warrior (1033604)

Another question; Elven Hauberk - Decay in effect as if it was on in round 1 of ranged or full effect in round 1 of melee if switched to?

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] July 31 2011 1:00 PM EDT

It wouldn't work that way with the EH. Anything that could be abusive in that manner wouldn't work that way.

Like I said, don't take it too seriously.

Just thinking how cool would it be for a team like Construct to rock a FF or a SF for ranged and then drop it for a TSA and a nice set of melee gear. Or hiding your EF or IF and then having it switched in for melee rounds. Pretty neat metagame possibilities :D

Like I said, don't take it too seriously.

I'm only really taking it seriously because this leaves so many questions to ask since...

Anything that could be abusive in that manner wouldn't work that way.

Would really need to be pointed out ahead of time.

This skill would open a lot of strategy, I'd love to (ab)use it, but an idea like this really needs to be fleshed fully out before a proper opinion of it can be made.

Something similar to this was suggested but not as a skill but rather as a set up change for opponents. You have X opponent but since you can't beat them with your current armor/weapons setup, however with a few Armor/Weapons tweaks you can. If you do these tweaks though you lose several other opponents. now if you could implement Setup Changes per opponent then you would be able to maximize your Fight lists. The only setback is this could cause CB to slowdown due to all of the setup changes. Find a way to Streamline it and this could be a whole new tactical era for CB. note if done properly this could be done for defense as well.

Phoenix [The Forgehood] July 31 2011 7:43 PM EDT

I don't see that big of a problem with enchanter switching, as both sets could simply be made to count towards ENC, meaning that if you wanted stronger enchantments, you would need more of that ENC to go toward enchanter gear. They would need hp/str which dilutes the exp that would otherwise go into an enchantment on top of having to train that skill in the first place.

King August 1 2011 3:05 AM EDT

Enchantments add enc, this would need to be changed in order for that to work Phoenix because I could have still equipped my high AC set and enchanter gears at half my enchanters current levels.

AdminTal Destra August 1 2011 8:34 AM EDT

cast giant strength on your self then pick up a 400 AC wall set

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] August 1 2011 9:28 AM EDT

Exbow would still wreck that...but you could do it the other way around to counter the exbow. Drop the wall set for melee tank gear.
