dictionary assault! (in General)
i am sitting here scanning old family slides today. this forces me to stay close to the computer and i am getting bored!
let's add some words to the dictionary. i am looking for game terms and common abbreviations of items mainly. if someone else is bored, they can search through old posts and list them here.
when i am done scanning i will close this post but likely do it again, if we are productive, on another day!
thanks! ; )

I suppose you mean the Glossary.
the spellcheck dictionary for the forums to be precise.
cth, bth, admin tagged people
If I remember any more later I'll post them up.
i am still scanning slides, so appease my boredom minions! ;)

"untrain" is one that I use often and is always labeled as misspelled.
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Or not... it's in the dictionary. Lol!

BACK//EDIT:
Whoa, wait a second... I didn't get a warning for either... since when are they in ? Or is this thread magically exempt from the spellcheck ?

Yeah lol, either somebody screwed up the dictionary ( not looking at you here dude :P ) or somebody made this thread magically exempt. B/c that word at the top there, yeah that's evidently in the dictionary....
Along with these:
alkdjf;akj
aldkfjs
thisisnotaword
neitheristhisone
that is odd! i really don't see how it could have been messed up by anyone as it is just a text entry box. you can't even see the list, or at least i haven't found a way to do so.
i checked on another thread though and it seems that a gibberish word passed on it also without being flagged.
i did test a few abbreviations yesterday to see if they were in using the post preview and they were flagged so it was working...
Yeah, it was definitely working 2 days ago. B/c I asked lamu to add something before you created this thread. Maybe this was a result of some other change not relate to the dictionary. There have been a lot of changes going on recently.
or my assault turned into assault and battery! ; )
Hmm the only thing I can even postulate that would break using a text box was if maybe certain special characters interfered with whatever was interpreting what you inputted. My best guess for those characters would be like a ";" or "/>" or maybe even just a "/". Otherwise, I'd have no idea how you would have broken it.
that is what i cm'd ns pretty much was asking if a text string could have broken it. the only symbol i can think of entering is the one after nat's name.
Hmm, interesting. I remember putting an asterisk in your char name can mess stuff up? How easy is it to remove stuff? You could just try removing it and if that doesn't fix it just re-adding it right back.
For starters, don't add usernames to the dictionary. They are already all in there automatically. If they come up in a spellcheck, it's because of capitalization issues.
I reverted your changes so far.

Hey it worked. By gorge I bet it was that silly '
I for one am blaming Natasha'
Admindudemus (damage control) 72.12.116.183 Xenogard (Piper at the Gates) $1000000 Sep 28
NS the reason he was adding user names was b/c of the admin tag. It's not recognized as a part of user's names. So like if I tried to post the above "admindudemus" comes up as a mispelling. Not a huge deal, just a little inconvenience, which is kindof what this entire thread is about
Adding the base username to the dictionary wouldn't fix that.
Certainly, we don't want to manually add tags to people in the dictionary.
I could always just remove tags from the transfer log, or look into a way to include tags when autogenerating the dictionary.
Also, yeah, quotes should be disallowed form user names. We don't want any random SQL attacks :)

He was adding "AdminNatasha'" so both Natasha' and the former would be in the dictionary.

Yeah, agreed... lol
way to include tags when autogenerating the dictionary.
This would be sweet.
i tried to add cth and bth again and am getting a server error.
It's been one day dude... 1 day and you're wreaking havoc
hey now, i was doing fine until nat chimed in! ; )
He was adding "AdminNatasha'" so both Natasha' and the former would be in the dictionary.
Not according to the log......
Oh, lol. Then I don't know what dude was thinking. Explain yourself dude! :P
i was adding the user names, when nat asked to add admin tagged people i didn't realize she meant including the admin tag, i thought she just meant the user names of the admins.
this needs added "namings"
And here I thought Lamu had actually added it...
And here I thought Lamu had actually added it...
The dictionary code was last touched in 2007, with the commit message of "Words may not contain underscores; it pisses off ispell" -- looks like quotes do, too :)
The exclude list is now _ ' " for the dictionary.
For adding acronyms, we don't want to allow acronyms in all lower-case. So, adding cth or similar things is wrong. Adding CTH is fine, and in fact Shade did it ages ago.
The exclude list is now _ ' " for the dictionary.
Sweet.
this needs added "namings"
Yeah I was meaning the word: namings needs to be added. No quotes.
Edit: Appears someone already added it :)
For starters, don't add usernames to the dictionary. They are already all in there automatically.
could the same mechanism that does this also add minion names? this would make posting fight logs much more user-friendly.
That would be very open to abuse, I think.
Can we do "NSCs"?
Without quotes obviously.
But, I want NSCs dude, b/c you never use just one of them.
