cb don't dig mages (in General)

why don't we have a tattoo that increases DD like the RoS and ToA boost other things

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 9 2011 1:46 AM EDT

I've always been on the fence about this suggestion...

On one hand it'd bring back multi-minion mage teams, and give us back FB as a useful spell, on the other it'd be WAY too good and would likely result in further nerfing of DD as a whole.

can't wear a CoI with a tattoo

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 9 2011 1:50 AM EDT

Even if it only added 40% of it's level to the DD, for someone with a max tat tattoo that could be huge... easily raising multi minion mages DD by 100%.

King October 9 2011 1:55 AM EDT

Probably because a ToA may boost strength but it doesn't affect a weapon's X and only increases chance of hitting and a RoS can still be DM'ed, whereas a DD tattoo would cover a complete, un-counterable increase to a damage formula. (I'd rather use a familiar for the added hp and kill slot anyways.)

amf counters DD king

King October 9 2011 2:00 AM EDT

AMF is a soft counter, DD damage is horrible but a proper mage is only slightly inconvenienced by it's use.

Quyen October 9 2011 4:51 AM EDT

> amf counters DD wouldn't amf hit like 0.2 at max when you got a 7M boosted DD?

Unless someone invests heavily in amf I imagine it to be somewhere closer to 0.1 for multiminion teams and probably 0 for 1 or 2 minion teams who would use the tattoo.

Didn't we just get out of MageBlender?

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] October 9 2011 10:05 AM EDT

what if the tattoo functioned more like bloodlust - granted a DD boost, but made the minion take more dmg (either from all dmg types or from AMF).

Were just getting started actually.

Tanks will never be able to match the damage/potential of a well setup mage team.

DD's are linear and Physical damage is not (as much as you people would like to say it is).

QBRanger October 9 2011 12:15 PM EDT

AMF is pretty much crippled by the NSC.

Quyen October 9 2011 12:17 PM EDT

a single minion FB team will get more famous with this setup :P, it would destroy everything XD

using the mathematical definition it is linear actually.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] October 9 2011 7:47 PM EDT

using the mathematical definition it is linear actually.

Only if it's a function of ST and X. It is logarithmic in terms of them separately.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] October 9 2011 7:50 PM EDT

even using one of those it would still be graphed as line, it would just be half as steep wouldn't it?

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] October 9 2011 7:50 PM EDT

No

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] October 9 2011 7:56 PM EDT

it is still a linear damage model, just one based on two paths of upgrade.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] October 9 2011 7:58 PM EDT

Yes, you could argue that.

Physical damage = Z(X*ST)

DD = Y(DD)

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] October 9 2011 7:59 PM EDT

Physical damage has the potential to go over linear damage increase through pth. It also has the benefit of being able to increase x far sooner. The costs that come with those benefits are it being expensive to keep up with.
