It has some good intentions for deterrence but I see so many wrong ways to absurdly abuse this towards the innocent people.

The Enemy Expatriation Act, or H.R. 3166, was introduced by Republican Representative Charles Dent of Pennsylvania.
He should be expatriated.

I completely agree with LB on this.

This is very bad policy.

If someone is found to be working against the interests of the US, we have courts to try them and possibly find them guilty of treason.

But as US citizens, they have rights that non citizens do not have.

I want to say this infringes on the freedom of the American people. its either you agree with the government or your are a traitor. no free speech or thought.

Wait, LB and Ranger agree in two threads at the same time? Did Hell freeze over last night?

And to make matters even more odd, this is the first I'm hearing of this scary bill. Thanks for posting the link.

Wait, LB and Ranger agree in two threads at the same time?
Yep, I noticed that too. And two political threads at that.

QBRanger January 17 2012 3:27 PM EST

Bad policy is bad policy no matter your political leanings.

I was more shocked at LB's response in the gun thread. That pleasantly surprised me.

Lord Bob January 17 2012 3:39 PM EST

I was more shocked at LB's response in the gun thread.
What for? You and I have had many discussions about guns here, and every time we fall on the same side. Except for the times I'm to the right of you on guns. I'm shocked you would forget.

This is what you get when you elect people who are far to one side or the other of the political spectrum. IMO we need more moderate politicians. I can't believe they are trying to introduce the ability to remove someones citizenship as a penalty. Are we living in some kind of feudal society?

QBsutekh137 January 17 2012 9:00 PM EST

Don't bring up feudalism, 'Fexy. I did that a ways back on another post and was roundly ridiculed by all sides.

For the record, I entirely agree with you.
