Rules (in General)

I'm not going to make some long, frustrating thread pleading for a myriad of changes to this game. There's simply no point.

This game, as far as I can tell, has stagnated utterly. Almost no forum activity which, to me, means that there isn't really any activity at all. Our devs don't have the time to making any changes to the game. Fine.

So, can we not just say screw it? Let's make the changes we CAN make. Ideally, the ones that take only a few minutes to make and worry about long term ramifications later. The game is NOT dead yet, so I'd be very much happy to see -something- that may inspire people to get back into it again with some energy.

So, some proposed changes that should take either a few minutes, or a "Fine." from NS/Jon/Whoever.

1. Relax the PG rule in chat and forums to something more along the lines of most other game forums. You frown on over use of it and unallow it in cases of blatant trolling and insults. Otherwise, let it be. A "Clean" forum/chat isn't fun if there is no one using it.

2. Allow multiple accounts. If someone wants to make 50 accounts and burn 50 sets of BA to fund one character, fine. Does it REALLY matter? Those 49 other characters will be fodder for everyone else working to try to get their characters. There are tons of strategy decisions to make still (How many "real" characters will you make to compete with? How many farms? Will you go for a lot of farms, or fewer farms with better geared to get better challenge bonuses? How much money can you devote to equiping them? Should you forge your own gear instead of hiring others?

What? Are you thinking it'll ruin the game? What game? I understand completely how much it'll mess with current balance. But this is the only way I can see to encourage people to play more that doesn't require development time (Increasing max BA would work. Making characters have different BA pools would work. So would a lot of things. But THIS will work now, not when someone has time for it.)

Not to mention that it'll lead to a lot more supporter money for Jon/NS.

3. Increase monetary rewards. I'm not sure how easy it'll be. I'm hoping it's literally a matter of just going into the code (So NS or Jon would have to do it) and just increasing a number.

Or decrease the cost (by a lot) of hiring minions, upgrading weapons (Not armor so much, just weapons). Yes, I know there are balance issues here. But people like having stuff more than they like not having stuff. I suppose you could skip 3 if 2 is done.

That's it. I don't have a lot of ideas. I suppose it would be cool to drastically reduce the number of votes needed for the BMVG if that's easy. I don't honestly know any coding, so I can't even hazard a guess

We need to encourage people to spend thier BA on the single account they have stopped playing.

Oh, Bast, how wonderful to see you still kicking around after all these years, contributing so much to our community. Oh, and if you're so easily frustrated Basty, maybe you should consider finding some relief. I'm sure someone as intelligent as you can think of something that may help.

Titan, being witty only works if you have wit to share with us all. Especially when your little "joke" would have only made sense had I come on the forums and said, "Just stop playing. This is stupid." To use your example, it's like finding out your wife is dying of incurable, aggressive brain cancer and chemotherapy and typical medications are having exactly zero impact. So the doctor asks if you're willing to try an experimental drug that may help... But you say, "No, thanks. I'm pretty sure she'll pull through if we all continue to do... Nothing different..." Fun, right?

As to GL's point, I don't know that the PG rule will change anything. But it may increase the number of people in chat, will increase the levels of comfort new players experience when they first enter chat and may make our forums seem a little less stiff to those visiting for the first time.

As to the multi idea, it's simply not that cut and dried. I'm sure you were a Mentor (Back when that was still around). How many players did you see get bored after their initial BA spending?

Ask yourself, how long does it take a new player to get to any of the "depth" of CB? Far too long for any rational person to expect them to go at it with little reward.

Failed your NUB? You failed the game. Enjoy.

Want to experiment? Hope not. Massive consequences if it doesn't pay off. Consequences that takes weeks to months to repair.

And players dominating even more? Is that really a concern? In a game where USD has been king since inception (Not the movie), we're going to argue about fairness? I'm sorry, but I fail to see how, "I have more time IRL." is a worse competitive attribute than, "I have more money IRL."


It's like you said, GL. Any of the legitimate, balanced changes probably aren't going to come. But you'd rather us just keep hoping for a change that won't happen instead of trying something a bit riskier that may actually be possible?

There is not enough testicular fortitude left in the active command echelons to do anything about "it", be it the knee-jerk, the rash, the brash, the thoughtful, or even the smart thing to do... not even when faced with the cold hard facts of a steadily dwindling playerbase on the back of a steadily dwindling interest retaining curve... denying reality in the vain hopes of... something.

It may, but as you say "A "Clean" forum/chat isn't fun if there is no one using it". Well, let's give people the reaosn *to* use it, and not throw out a difining rule of CB, just becuase we're losing players for *other* reasons. ;)

Yes. I will only ever strive, and support, changes that atempt to make CB fairer and balanced. I will never support changes or suggestions that are obviously broken.

Just as biological botting back in CB1 was.

Id be cool with people having more then 1 account if the NUB cash bonus was removed.

All of these take little to no time to do. However, there is a better list known as the "100 papercuts". I already went through and Ok'd or denied about half of them. Lamuness and Verifex were supposed to implement them. I would be very happy if they would.

That's a great place to focus.

As for your three suggestions, there is a fundamental issue in CB that doing some of the things you suggest would disrupt. There is a correlation between $$ and XP. So, we can say for instance that Y xp costs X dollars. We can also say that something that costs X dollars is worth Y xp for various equivalences and balances. Lowering the minion purchase cost would change the cost of everything in the game, for instance.

Further, because of lots of sellouts, there is a giant megaton of cash tied up in a few number of players. This is equally hard to balance without starting a new game and disallowing all player transfers.

Your idea regarding the BMVG could probably be done on a case by case basis.

Here we go again... must I remind everyone that in the spirit of fairness and consistency this thread from where I stand should have been closed.... is it really too much to ask that when we get admins saying ''we try to be as fair as we can'' that it's actually done!!!?

So let's try one more time... does it sound anything like it's INSANE that rules can't be fair and or consistent like myself as others keep pointing out!!? NS, I've suggested a few things that would not disrupt anything in the game but just some extra features to make life easier. 2 of which you okay'd to be implemented... neither have been done, and both would take seconds... Im no master at TCL But I am pretty darn good at the rest of it.. I've offered to help code and improve on the game..

I've even spoke to a couple admins about it... nothing has come of it.. Now Im telling you Im willing to help out coding, improving, and trying to keep this game alive. Not only would it help the game, but give me a chance to improve on my own coding ability. It would not take me long to pick up on the TCl i've already looked into it and it is extrememly similar to other languages I've used and Do know very well.

Yeah, I was 3-1-9 the other day in a game, with the second most CS in the game, and three of the people wanted to report me for "feeding"..

LOL yea peeps are ridiculous in that game sometimes..

they wanted to report me more once for being a tank and going stuff like 3-6-15, and im tanking all the damage while they kill people and Im like.. omg, I tank the damage and die so you can live and kill.. and you want to report me!!!! IM the reason YOUR still alive..

Also notice the high assists, and they are like So.. morons..

oh and the crazy amount of DC's and AFK's is just BEYOND ridiculous.. more then half my lost game are because of that....

This is why people opt to pay for WoW and only do things with friends in that game to cut down and much of the above... just saying LOL :D

I actually played LoL in beta but never really got into it. Barely got into Dota. I was mostly joking about the behavioral skills. People behave like that in all games. When I was playing Counter Strike 10 years ago it was the same.

Except WoW is better. :) My friends and I started in the days of Diablo, we've grown accustom to Blizzards way of doing things. Unfortunately LoL is not ran by Blizzard... enough said. :)

yea CS hasn't changed either, I gave up on it. LOL playing with friends isn't always and option, and its usually just easier to solo queue..

Pointing that out isn't an insult, even if a news agencey is referenced.

Insults are a difficult thing to judge, especially so over a typed medium.

I'm sorry GL, but as I recall the rules are based from admin to admin. Thus it's only fair that as the one being aimed at in his post if I felt insulted he should have either said he never insulted me or apologized pretty simple. As direct insults have never been allowed until now... which would not be fair or consistent for those of you keeping points ;)

GL, wouldn't you also agree that if it's against the rules it should be against the rules? For example if the rules state no trolling and they do just because the comment that this is stupid and everyone should stop playing was intended as a joke it was still stated which would be wrong based on the rules. Per my contest thread it's based on context but it was still stated see the issue? Can I jokingly threaten a member of congress and get away with it? No, as any threats taken against them are seen as serious, but ''officer I stated it was a joke''. Pretty sure that wouldn't work. Furthermore sir, had you read the entire thread after Titan saw that I had already took offense to his ''insult'' he didn't say he didn't intend to insult me instead he went one step further and changed fox news to every news station only to make the ''insult'' worse, in which case should have been handled differently seeing as he is in fact an admin and they should be leading as example not ''do as we say'' again I point to fair and consistent. As the way he's gone about this only shows me that I can then do the same and get away with it as that would also again be fair and consistent. So I'm fully sure he'll have no issue with this...

This thread lists possible rule changes that could remove some of the stagnation from the game.

Your thread requested the game be shutdown. Were any of your threads about changes closed or just the one about shutting the game down?

Josh, my thread also called for a discussion from the community in which I had planned to also give ideas similar to these in this thread but you wouldn't know that as it was shut down due to trolling. If rules are to be followed then they needed to be followed by everyone and if people in admin positions can't be fair about them I say they should be replaced.... hmmm now there's a thought!!
