Is this new or am I just slow? (in General)

Am I just noticing this for the first time or is this new? When selling something in the auctions when you hover over each text box it gives you a little tool tip at the bottom explaining it.

I never noticed this before and I've sold stuff in the auctions dozens of times, so I'm curious as to whether or not I've just been completely oblivious to it for the last 2-ish years since my return or if its just a minor change that's recently been made.

That was the first thing that I ever wrote for CB :) :)

When I first came on board, we were doing the "Great ReTheming" changes. We each worked on different pages to convert them to the new themed ways. I jumped right in with the auctions page, and took a whole new approach to it. I introduced fieldsets (eventually everywhere), and the idea of using lists with radio buttons. I pushed for floating divs everywhere instead of tables, and neat things like that hover text.

A lot of my changes eventually were pulled back out by Jon, but a few big things still stayed. If you look at the source for the auctions home page, you'll see that there's a lot of floating divs to get the alignment right. That was all me :)

This was a long time ago, though. I guess now I can do whatever I want :) :)

Given that, is there something new and fancy you want on the auctions page? It's kind of something I'd like to be super popular, for reasons that should now be obvious. Actually, to be honest, I'd prefer it if all of FS/WTB sales moved into auctions, but that's a whole other thread topic....

That's the nice way of saying you're slow :)

NS implement the auction fee to only take place after the item is sold and it would probably get a lot more use. As of now it is impossible to sell any big items in the auction like tattoos since the price for putting them up is so high :(.

I agree with auction fee only being charged if item is sold, otherwise refunded. I also think it should be a single static cost and not dependent on length if this is going to be the case.

Wow.. I'm slow. I can't believe I just noticed that hahaha.

Also glad my complete lack of paying attention for the last two years sparked some debate on sprucing up the auctions. Wait.. that was totally my plan all along.. >_>

i do agree that the fee should only occur when the item is sold.

i would love to have reverse auctions, where if i am looking for a katana i can put up a bid for one and if someone has one and likes the price they can just hit an accept button.

Flat fee to post, second % fee upon sale.

This is a fantastic idea.

I am definately for the charging fees when the item sells.

I love the reverse auction idea.
the problem with weapons is the variety of + and X values and NW ,
would the request be im looking for a base katana or a 50 mil NW katana ect. Almost think the post system would be more do-able

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] May 4 2012 4:49 PM EDT

regular auctions will still be available for large items. the reverse listings would likely be more for base items but if someone decided to throw an upgraded one at you for your price then what the heck! ; )

The kind of change I will like to see is either a LONGER history of auctions for certain items, or a more permanent average of the selling price of items so that if people want to be able to sell them, they will have a general idea as to how much they are being sold for on average. ^_^ I am sure its only a few additions of a program code, and a alteration of one already in place.
