Would the available target list be if we unretired all characters?

This is an idea to help ncb/nub runs with stagnant pools

very large

But that would mean my uber leet win-loss ratio would take a beating! :P

On a more serious note, the only reason I can think of to keep retiring is to not allow a BA cheese loophole by swapping to a 1MPR toon to buy/accumulate BA.

Unappreciated Misnomer May 14 2013 1:02 PM EDT

I didn't think that was possible since it's based on mpr or vpr

Viole May 14 2013 1:39 PM EDT

How about setting it such that those with N*B can target retired characters? Though flooding the pool with equipment/tattoo-less characters might have some undesirable consequences, I'd welcome the newfound abundance of relatively low power targets.

Of your highest non retired toon.

Which is why folk retire.

If we wanted them to stop retiring, we'd have to change this, which would lead to BA purchase/regen cheese shenanigans.

As for targetting retired, I suppose we'd have to somehow stop the retired toons from getting rewards.

Also, there must have been a reason Jon original designed the auto retire system.

Leave the regeneration based on highest character. All the active players would simply retire their characters again. Ultimately, the only change in the system would be that the characters of all retired players would be open to target.

I don't believe Obsterical intended for this thread to be of the abolishment of retirement, merely the increase of the number of targets by recovering some retired ones.

I imagine that the purpose of retirement in the first place was to ease the burden on the servers, and for active players to store characters away while embarking on a NCB run. Unretiring through a certain range of PR/MPR would not stress the server more than the active players did during CB's prime levels (Of course, I have no way of actually knowing this), and the matter concerning active players has been addressed.

It's not terribly important to increase the amount of targets but if it weren't for equipment loans, I would have no more 2 targets at 100% challenge bonus just 13 days into my N*B.

A final note, if we're speaking of the founder's intentions, it's highly unlikely that he foresaw the stagnation of CB during the original designing.

I must apologise. I am still planning on setting up some NPC teams (of iconic builds) for folk to fight.

Ther'es nothing technical in my way now. I just need the time to log into TourneyPrizes and sort out the teams.

When I get this going, I'm more than happy to take on more retired teams that players don't want, and set them up as NPCs as well.

I've just been a tad busy. ;) I know, that's no excuse! :P

Thank you for all your hard work!

I'll offer up a few of my retirees for TP, I'll do that later this week when I got some free time to log into TP as well.

Very large, for a short while.
Soon however, most inactives will drop score heavily, becoming bad targets.

The NPC team thing is a better way, but not necessarily the best.

I lack the motivation to even try to remember what I once upon a time thought were better ways, whoever's interested can try to scour the forum archives for them.

Sickone May 14 2013 8:16 PM EDT

P.S. The main idea however is that the score system is heavily biasedfor teams that are actively fighting, especially in the lower power ranges. A score system redesign would also need to happen alongside anything else that might get done.

A quick and dirty shortcut would be to freeze the score of NPC targets to an appropriately high level, but that has some potentially unfairly advantageous side-effects for some people.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] May 15 2013 5:59 PM EDT

TP running NPC characters would be able to fight at least a few battle with each, to keep thier score up.

It will take some maintenance, but that's something I'm cool with.

There are 3 main reasons characters get retired. Players retire them either for space and/or for the ba regen in order to run a ncb. Otherwise characters will get auto retired if their score drops too far relative to their MPR.
