I don't like to advertise when I get online, gives me a minute or two before the farmers hop on...I also have boxes without java (if you have to ask why, you might want to do the same). I actually like the full screen chat better and since I have to use Safari to get chat work right anway I keep chat off.

Initially, my modem router (Conexant) keeps on dropping my signal for Java chat, ICQ and MSN. So I stopped using it. I've changed the router now but tend to do other things online so I haven't gone on chat all that much anymore.

Play at work some of the time so chat isn't appropriate. Dial up at home + ancient computer means chat slows down CB experience!

Various reasons why I don't chat

I'm feel somewhat ashamed to admit I rarely involve myself in chat lately for various reasons.Time is a major factor - it's already hard to find the time to play. Performance is another - fighting is much slower whilst chat applet is active. Then there's also the fact that many of the regular players with whom I used to like chatting have since left.

my wireless isn't stable enough so I keep disconnecting and reconnecting and spam chat so I turned it off

Most topics are taboo is what I've heard from those who don't chat much. It's best to not chat with other people sometimes as it just gets you into trouble. I obviously have had my share of this trouble, however am relentless at making myself feel welcomed. I been here awhile though and been friends with small groups for a long time.

I don't have chat running at work, causes too much hastle. And at home, I'd spend too much time chatting that Claire would leave me. ;) I have enjoyed logging on to chat the couple of times I've done it, but I suppose I just don't get the time to do it frequently.

Why risk it?

So many things are taboo in this neo-con age that I had to turn off this insanity. Can't even pronounce the word "------" or the simple, compeling catch phrase "----- - ---- ---- ---------". See, I am auto censoring myself! What has this world come to?

But seriously, I am just an anti-social Canadian with an agenda :) I just don't want to be listed as a terrorist, so I had to turn it off before Big Bros figured me out :p

Several reasons..

1) It's not IRC. I abhor having to load a java virtual machine to use a 1st grader's chat client that has massively low usability. It's like trying to use notepad to do typesetting and page layouts of professional printed documents.

2) There's only been one person that welcomed me in chat. He's also the only one that ever answered my questions or gave assistance while in chat. He's not in chat anymore.

3) The administration at this site is like a powdered keg, just waiting to explode without a moment's notice. I have over $40m CB2 dollars, and that's an investment I want to keep. Since fines/bans/resets get tossed around like a two-dollar whore, I would just as soon stay out of it all. I feel the same way towards the forum, though I do post *somewhat* when I can't keep quiet any longer.
