Better Idea

Have a tutorial "tournament" where new players can play around with a team for a week or so before getting tossed into the main game.

-- Lord Bob

Hey man

That is a pretty good idea. :)

-- rusty

by not having a delay is there any risk that we will see an increase in people/bots spamming chat or forums?

-- Lochnivar

Off

The new_players room would have to become a default room for nubs though... and the old mentor/helpers who lurked in there would need to come back or they might end up getting just as little help as they already do.

...Also a big link to the wiki encouraging them to skim through it for the first week or so might be nice.

MUSHU!?!?!

I like the first idea, but that in itself would/will causes some confusion.

Well if my NP Post could be made stationary then I'm sure, with a little more tweaking, it could serve just that purpose. Large as it is now it is still nothing more than an overview of the most important parts of the Wiki.

I am NP

NP would be too lite and ignored. Drop them off in carnage.

Making server use of Zen's NP posting would be good.

Totally agreed, if we find spam becomes a problem well maybe then we can think about creating a new player chat for nubs..

-- Kefeck

There will be no spam problem.

We don't get enough NUBs.

-- A Lesser AR of 15

There's the ignoring problem.

Seen it before, when NUBs would get dropped off in carnage and veterans pretty much ignore them because they are involved in conversation...in that respect, NP was a great chatroom, because the people who could help were there and the people who weren't interested in helping were not a distraction.

Sad but unfortunately true, if this were to be done why not reinstitute the Mentor Program? The NUBs would need to learn from someone why not a Mentor?

-- Zenai

Abso-tuta-lutely!

-- Admin{CB1}Slayer333

No help at all survival of the fittest.... Any one helping a NUB is banned for life...

-- The Pope

Excommunicated for helping a NUB?

I agree with reinstating the Mentor program and putting them into Chat. Just so long as people aren't under the impression that putting them in Chat is a valid means of assisting the player by itself. Besides, new players who DO stay for a while usually end up finding someone who helps them out and informally mentors them - giving them that from the start again would be great.
