Happy Change Month! (in General)

Mags May 1 2005 10:16 AM EDT

Something truly worth celebrating. What are you hoping to receive during it? All I'm looking for is a degree of certainty regarding near-term CB direction so I can finally make some tough decisions with Brock.

Nixon Jibfest May 1 2005 10:18 AM EDT

Has jon always made a change on regular schedule?

QBJohnnywas May 1 2005 10:22 AM EDT

Every odd month is a change month - correct me if I'm wrong.

All I want from Santa this change month is my two front teeth....

Maelstrom May 1 2005 10:24 AM EDT

In the Behind The Scenes FAQ, Jon says: Changes impacting game balance are only made during odd-numbered months.

QBJohnnywas May 1 2005 10:26 AM EDT

Also some tank friendly changes, that give a tank team some chance at beating ToE mages more easily. But I do emphasize tank friendly, so not necessarily ToE nerfs.

Fuhgawz May 1 2005 10:32 AM EDT

i have been playing for 2 years and Jon has never missed a change month

AdminShade May 1 2005 10:43 AM EDT

indeed, almost a year and a half on cb and always liked the frustration of people during change month ;)

[Banned]Monty May 1 2005 11:31 AM EDT

nearly 1 year for me (n00b :O) like clock work :)

Mythology May 1 2005 1:05 PM EDT

Looking for in the change month...
* ToE no longer making AMF virtually useless
* Jon annoucing he has been convinced a NW nerf is not a good thing (NW = PR)
* Tournaments reintroduced with me running them :p
* New goals for new players, like beat this guy, get 10K etc.. From ideas.
* Weather effects brought in, so its raining one day (hit to Fireball, bonus to CoC, Ranged harder to hit) sunny the next etc..
* A random happy hour once per week introduced (Extra money + extra exp combined for one hour).

Just a short list :p

Mags May 1 2005 5:06 PM EDT

"always liked the frustration of people during change month ;) "

And here we are, already twisting in the wind.

For what it's worth I like every single change Myth proposed, along with a more heavy call to foam-pad ToE's. This from a char completely reliant on one...

I finally see May 1 2005 5:09 PM EDT

Mags, you like the idea of myth running tournies? /me smacks the drugs out of Mags' hand.

Mythology May 2 2005 12:07 AM EDT

Hey now, me running tournies is better than no tournies, surely? :p

I already offered my services to Jon and said I obviously wouldnt get admin status with it, oddly he never replied :D

Xenko May 2 2005 9:24 AM EDT

*has failed to notice any changes in Changelog*

I'm scared.

sasquatchan May 2 2005 9:41 AM EDT

Dumb question: I may have misread it, but did Jon say he was committed to making the NW as part of PR change ? I know he posted a list of how the rankings would change based upon his new calculations, but I wasn't sure if that was a teaser, a "this is how it'll be" or whatnot.. If such a change was made, and previously announced, would it warrant a new thread ?

Reebok May 2 2005 10:36 AM EDT

Oddly enough I like all of Myth's ideas, too.

/me chants "Happy Hour!" over and over.

Grant May 2 2005 2:55 PM EDT

Jon has told me that since his wife is due in ~2 weeks, it may be a small change month.

[EG] Almuric May 2 2005 3:21 PM EDT

Jon's going to be a daddy again? Congratulations!

AdminJonathan May 2 2005 6:29 PM EDT

technically the due date is in in 5 days, but who's counting :)

Thraklight Resonance May 2 2005 6:35 PM EDT

Small change month for cb ... big change month for Jonathan. :-)

AdminJonathan May 2 2005 6:46 PM EDT

indeed :)

although most of my friends tell me that the 1st is the biggest change, and the 3rd is the next-biggest (because then THEY outnumber YOU).

-Add Cash Total to Manage Characters page (like ammo)

Sukotto [lookingglas] May 2 2005 7:51 PM EDT

I look forward to you updating your profile picture with three bodies and two faces :-)

A hearty congratulations Jonathan!. All the best to your wife and you.

Todd May 2 2005 8:01 PM EDT

lol at Sut :)

Congrats Jon!

I found anything after the first to be easy. Once you are used to having kids, to me it made no difference with 2 or 3.

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] May 3 2005 2:03 AM EDT

Congrats Jon.

but this came to me just now, (maybe has been brought up, but o well)

- Arrows/Bolts could get BS'ed or forged into slayers/seekers, (kinda like tattoo artist). With a fair price, to keep them rare ammo still.

*still no keyboard...=/ lol

onlyyouknow May 3 2005 8:53 AM EDT

Congrats Jon! Happy being a father again, again and again. :p

AngryZac May 3 2005 9:00 AM EDT

Congrats Jon, hope all goes well and keeps you away from changing the effectiveness of my mage char :)

On a side note my wife is expecting two...but that's not till September.

AngryZac May 3 2005 9:01 AM EDT

One more thing, how about instead of Happy Hour (since that doesn't seem to fit with Jon's obsession with balance) you just make crazy hour change up a bit...because those of us that only play at work never get to play during crazy money time :(

Quark May 3 2005 10:38 AM EDT

Congrats Jon! Don't underestimate the impact of the 2nd! (I stopped at three, but we were a bit overconfident after the first)

QBRanger May 3 2005 11:04 AM EDT

I just had my second. Big change from number 1. Now I actually have to be a Dad and watch Son #1 while she takes care of #2.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] May 3 2005 11:20 AM EDT

As a planning to be first time parent, congrats Jon. I hope everything goes well! ;)

Do you know if it will be a boy or a girl? Hospitals here won't tell anyone anymore...

QBRanger May 3 2005 11:26 AM EDT

Loser, Its all about the liability. As a radiologist I tell noone, as there have been successful lawsuits by parents about just that. A radiologist or OB told them it was a boy, it turned out to be a girl (honest mistake) but the parents won the lawsuit claiming "emotional distress" that the girl was born.

{CB1}-Mokaba May 3 2005 11:38 AM EDT

Congratulations Jon! That the new born baby may be filled and surrounded with love and laughter. I hope that your wife will be well during the happy hours. :)

AdminJonathan May 3 2005 1:01 PM EDT

we haven't had an ultrasound; we're looking forward to the surprise

Fuhgawz May 3 2005 1:35 PM EDT

congratz jon im looking forward to my first child coming soon in July >< doh that will be another change month

Mags June 1 2005 2:26 AM EDT

Whewf. Jon's kid made it, CB made it, and against all odds, we made it.

What a change month. Let's see how it plays out. See you in the blender...
