Public Apology thats Due (in General)

QBRanger May 5 2005 10:46 AM EDT

Since the raffle was looked into and there were no ill proprieties;

I, Ranger, formally apologise to MegaManV if I sullied his name in any way, shape or form.

After all the facts were looked into, the raffle was on the up and up and the best person won (tho, via luck was a bit involved).

Congratz on your booty. (not the one you sit on)

Sorry to jump into your post Ranger but as another entrant in the same contest I made a comment in the same posting that I regretted as soon as I hit confirm. I did apologize there but if it's ok with you I'd like to apologize here. Apologies to you MegamanV.

The only apologies that are due are from people who still doubted after Bartjan's post confirming no ill-play.

We did the right thing alerting the admins of possible wrong doings.

indeed why apologize for a small error?

people should apologize for not believing bartjan also then!

Reputation is everything in this game and it doesn't take much to kill someone's rep on CB. In megaman's defense, he seemed to be facing an entire community labelling him as a possible multi. That's a cruddy situation to be in and does warrant an apology, in my opinion.

Personally, i never agreed with the public notification of possible multi. I understand the purpose of bringing attention to suspicious activity but at the same time, there doesn't seem to be a recourse if the claim is incorrect and damage is done to someone's rep. I think we've lost players due to this before (?). Even if the majority of accussations are correct, it only takes a small few incorrect accussations to ruin the system (like frivilous malpractice lawsuits). I think they should be CMed to Bartjan directly. I'm sure bartjan wouldn't agree cause he'd end up with a hundred CMs with the same accusation. Perhaps Jon should build in a "Report a Multi" feature since it seems to happen a lot.

Applause goes to Ranger. The apology helped his reputation as much as it did Megaman's.

Just an opinion.

I am with Nixon on this one, innocent until proven guilty in my book. Let the admins do their job, that is what they aren't paid to do. :) Bravo to Ranger and those who chose to take the higher road in this case.
