Maybe I'm just crazy but it seems that str/dex effecting armors now effect ToA. I seem to lose a lot more than 3% when I equip my Mithril Shield. Anyone can confirm this?
DX: 55,740/20 - with Corn equipped
DX: 55,742/20 - without

other armor reducing DX maybe?
2HW + Shield = DX Penalty? No? Yes?

Oh yeah...=P forgot I equiped the Morgul again. But still...that is a huge dex penalty. Since my dex is all ready only about 55K, that is about 1/5 of my entire dex.
I am sure the 2HW+Shield combo gave something like a 13% reduction in itself so the rest is from the MS

two handed weapon + bow + shield equals 17 percent dex penality from your natural dex. This is close to 1/5.
So we have 3 levels at work here then:
Trained DX, affected by stats on armours
Natural DX, affected by shield/weapon combos
Battle DX (given by enchantments), affected by...? anyone know? (other than the obvious Dispell)

- there is trained DX
there is DX after:
- armor penalties / bonuses
- shield + 2-hand weapon +ranged weapon penalty (+ranged because bows and crossbows have different penalties)
- Tatto of Augmentation ( which doesn't include any penalties or bonuses)
and there is combat DX which includes:
Ethereal Chains
Haste (which can be lowered by Dispell Magic)

Could not have put it any better.
The reason people use Haste often is that they can wear heavy armor. use a 2h weapon with a bow and shield and still get a great dex.
In cb1, I think that was a common strat. In cb2, you have to be a bit more careful due to the DM spell. However, at the upper levels the DM spell is not used very much.
Also, one last thing: If you unequip a melee weapon and only use a missle weapon youll get a very large dex penalty of over 50% to your final dex, that is after all things including Haste and TOA's are figured into it. Its a good way to no be effected by a CBF, but you pay a hefty price on the dex.

you sure about that more than 50% penalty? i thought it to be a 40% additional DX penalty for using ranged weapons in melee...
would that 40 or 50% dx penalty be on your tarined dx or battle dx? (if I trained haste, would it be affected) :)
